PLOT

While nearing the planet Untharia your ship is shot at and damaged forcing you to land. The ship now requires repairs, but as you do not carry spare parts you are stuck on the planet. Annoyed at this situation you swear an oath of revenge against the Untharians. In an effort to fulfill your oath you plunge into the nearby jungle to search for their base.

GAMEPLAY

There are seven ultra-lethal weapons, over 30 different enemies, cool sound effects. You will find that every level of Alien Rampage contains tough, new enemies to face and requires the player to solve puzzles in order to advance to the next level. Unfortunately the game can only be saved at the end of each level, meaning that if you die anywhere in that level you will have to start at the beginning of the level again.
The end result is a good game that players of all ages will find fun and challenging. You'll also get to buy power ups from a strange looking creature in a cowl and you will also be able to get help from the troll-like natives, whom you will need to help solve some of the puzzles in the game and also you will have to use the surroundings to help you progress.
There are 20 levels in all that are fairly long and the puzzles will stop you from flying to the finish. In the options menu at the start, it is possible to configure the game to be playable with the keyboard, a mouse or a joystick.

GRAPHICS

The graphics are large colourful two dimensional images meaning that everything is always visible. Those with young children and those of a squeamish disposition please note that there is bucket loads of gore in this game.

SOUND

The only sound in the game is the sound effects (weapons fire, exploding objects, lifts going up or down etc,), but the sound is perfect for the game game and enhances the experience rather than detracting from it.

TECHNICAL NOTES

This game can be played in windows (tested on XP), but there is no sound and the graphics seem to jerky. Using DosBox there are no problems running the game what so ever.

SUMMING UP

All in all this game is deceptive, as by just looking at it and when you first start to play it, it is easy to think "just another platform game".
But the more I played it the more I enjoyed it as I realised That I had to think as well as shoot. Also on some of the problems that you have to overcome in the game there is more than one way of beating the problem which makes a change. This game is fun and at the end of rhe day that is what you want in a game.
