Review by Guzzardo:
When I first fired up HyperDOS, I had my doubts. After all, it was bundled software for a computer that is probably older than I am. Then, the title screen appeared. My hopes rose. "DOS Operations!" I thought. "Does this mean no more commands to type in?"Well, not quite. This screen does offer a pretty good DOS shell program, as well as GUI methods of running some other DOS commands (such as MEM). The next screen that I tried from the Main Menu was the Help section. This proved to be pretty useless (with the possible exception of the System Info screen). Since I do not have the old 286 machine that the software was designed for, the Help screens could only help me with HyperaDOS itself, not the entire machine. I then clicked the Applications button. Nifty calculator, fair letter writer, okay recipe card file, ans that's about it. The one remaining option on the Main Menu was Program Manager. Program Manager, in this case, is simply a list of programs on your machine that you input. Double-clicking any program on this list will run it; pretty cool. You can add whatever command-line switches that you want to any, all, or none of the listed programs. Keep in mind that, as a shell, HyperDOS will cause problens with some programs, such as BioMenace (which can be found in the Games section). Bottom Line: a mediocre program redeemed by the Program Manager function.
