This game is one of the first real flight sims I played on the PC and despite its age it's a game I still play nowadays because it just has everything you can expect from a serious flight simulation game. But on to the details...

The village of Illsmouth. A town hall, a post office, a tiny harbour and a few houses. Nothing special really, it's like the epitome of a comfortable hood, none of the modern-world related problems occur here.

He wakes up in the mortuary. He doesn't know where he is. He doesn't know who he is. The only clue is a small, torn piece of paper in his pockets, telling him the address of a bar...
Well, that's the interesting beginning of an uncommon game. Shadowrun is one of the few adventures which are really unique concerning their feeling. During the game, you are drawn into the atmosphere of this gloomy piece of fiction. A world of powerful companies and powerless countries. You are right in the middle of it. Without identity. Everywhere you are threatened by violent mercenaries, but you don't know why they chase you.

Siege & Ambush At Sorinor & Walls Of Rome: A series of games very similar to each other. The screenshots look almost identical. And all the games are quite similar in fact They're all pioneers of the RTS genre. That means much action is in them. But in contrast to current titles, the strategy- component is stressed. This becomes clear when you discover that you can give orders to your army when the game is paused.

Microprose 1990
Genre: Simulation, Strategy
Rating: 5/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga
A very mature Amiga game. Looking at its theme, it's obviously not aimed at the same target audience as the endless flood of Jump'n'Runs, but on the other hand, it's also not some ultra-realistic simulation which would scare most people off.

Maxis / Infogrames 1991
Genre: Strategy
Rating: 5/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga
A game which needs no introduction, because every single person on this planet has already played it or at least one of the hundreds of sequels and offshoots it spawned. This is the original game which started the 'Sim' craze. Ironically, it actually isn't a simulation game, but virtually the epitome of the non-war strategy genre, but its influence can be seen even today when people call pure strategy games 'simulations'.

CineTech 1998
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 5/6
Language: English, Italiano, Deutsch
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga
The Amiga family of computers weren't blessed with the gems Day of the Tentacle and Sam & Max. ScummVM was still a few years away. Fortunately, there are always creative people to fill such gaping gaps. Enter Sixth Sense Investigations - the Lucas Arts game not made by Lucas Arts.

Bluemoon Software 1993
Genre: Sport, Action
Rating: 5/6
Language: English
Licence: Freeware
System: PC
One of the most addictive games I have ever played, Skyroads is a unique blend of puzzle, action and racing. The game was written in 1993 by the Estonian company Bluemoon Software (currently Bluemoon Interactive), and enjoyed a moderate success as a shareware title. Bluemoon has built up a sizable distribution network with this game, and so the game was worth more than the money it earned: it opened the doors for later Bluemoon games and applications to be sold.

Gryphon Software / Origin 1989
Genre: RPG, Simulation
Rating: 5/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
Space Rogue is an odd mix of a space shooter, adventure and role-playing. While many people tend to call this an RPG game, the fact is that it's got very little to do with the basics of role-playing - character development. More important than this ongoing debate, however, is the fact that Space Rogue is one of the first games that used vector graphics, took advantage of the superiority of IBM computers and offered countless hours of fun. The game is timeless; even today it will suck you right in.

Bitmap Brothers 1988
Genre: Sport, Action
Rating: 5/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga
Although there were quite a lot "simulations" of real team sports like soccer in the Amiga's days, it seemed to be nearly impossible to port such tactical games with so many players to the computer. Most companies simply didn't care and published almost unplayable sports games. But there were also the smart ones like the Bitmap Brothers who thought a bit about different concepts! The result was Speedball, the summit of team sports games.
