Hannibal
Title Screen
Starbyte 1993
Genre: Strategy
Rating: 4/6
Language: Deutsch, English
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga
A German strategy game with decent graphics and intuitive controls? What a novel idea! Ok, there are exceptions - think of Battle Isle and The Settlers. Hannibal can't quite reach that high level, but it comes close enough...

Helicopter Mission
Title Screen
Rauser Advertainment 1993
Genre: Simulation, Action
Rating: 0/6
Language: Deutsch
Licence: Freeware
System: Amiga
I've always had a soft spot for promotial games. With some ironic distance, they're mostly very funny: unvoluntarily humor galore. The uncoolest companies trying to get their useless products into the concious of young people. That's of course not easily done. Medicine against rheumatism suddenly turns hip, politicians become MTV-compatible stars. Or the promoted product doesn't turn up at all. Hilarious!

Indycar Racing
Title Screen
Papyrus 1993
Genre: Sport, Simulation
Rating: 5/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
IndyCar Racing is a racing-simulation with the famous IndyCar(now: Cart) theme.

Like in the majority of racing-simulations the view is the driver's perspective. The car's gameplay is excellent, also rookies get easy involved with it. The visualization was detailed and well ported from the original. IndyCar Racing belongs to the best racing-simulations of its time. The grade of realism could not handle with Grand Prix 2 but the game was the reference in the Indy500 category. Also in our days the gameplay is unbeaten. Visualization and Sound were innovative. For the first time there were textures on the cars, asphalt and on the sourroundings. The sound of the motor is very realistic. The 8 Race- and Speedways were lovingly copied.

International Athletics
Title Screen
True Emotions 1993
Genre: Sport
Rating: 1/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
Who does not know the classic shaking sports games on the C-64 or the Amiga? They were as good to get cramps as they were Joystick killers. But this game is different! It leaves out the hectic movement of the input device and replaces it with...NOTHING.

Karamalz Cup
Title Screen
Art Department 1993
Genre: Sport, Action
Rating: 2/6
Language: Deutsch
Licence: Freeware
System: Amiga
Karamalz is a brand of Malzbier, so what we have here is a promotial game. Promotial games are mostly simple versions of classic arcade games or short Adventures. This one sticks out from the crowd by being a sports game. It's a surprisingly complex ice hockey simulation!

Legend of Kyrandia 2 - Hand Of Fate
Title Screen
Westwood Studios 1993
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 3/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
Kyrandia is in trouble again! But this time it's not that easy to determine where it comes from. The realm is slowly disappearing bit by bit. The royal Mystics don't have a clue what to do (that rhymes ;). But fortunately, a giant hand has obviously experienced this phenomenon before: someone needs to retrieve the anchor stone from the center of the world. On the hand's diagram of the world, you can clearly see a lot of lava there, but who cares? The youngest member of the mystics is chosen for this mission: Zanthia.

Lemmings 2: The Tribes
Title Screen
Psygnosis 1993
Genre: Puzzle
Rating: 5/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga
After they started milking the brand with lots of and lots of data disks, it became obvious there would have to be a real sequel to Lemmings to keep the fire alive. However, due to these data disks, how could that sequel just have been additional levels? Impossible - we need more!

Master of Orion
Title Screen
Microprose 1993
Genre: Strategy
Rating: 6/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
Master of Orion - just a poor copy of Civilization or an independent game? The opinions differ extremely. There is hardly anyone who thinks it is mediocre. Either you hate it or you love it. As everbody can assume, I belong to the second group (else it would be in a different category). I'll explain why.

Might and Magic V: Darkside of Xeen
Title Screen
New World Computing 1993
Genre: RPG
Rating: 3/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
Alamar, the powerful wizard and artificial being has declared itself lord of one side of the Xeen world. Now your team will have to get rid of him, but not before saving the queen from the undead life, restoring the castle to our reality and helping the dragon pharaoh, as only him can help you.

Might and Magic: World of Xeen
Title Screen
New World Computing 1993
Genre: RPG
Rating: 3/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
World of Xeen is the union of Might and Magic 4 and 5, got from copying xeen.cc from MMIV to the MMV directory. The game gives you the two sides of the coin shaped world of Xeen to explore in your quest to wipe the evil out from it, and a third, and short, new adventure.
