This review is part of The Review Roundup - Round 1: Games Related to the End of the World

Norse mythology has its very specific version of how the world is going to end. The world will fall into a deadly winter, and all kinds of natural catastrophes will occur. Monsters will rise from the depth in which they hid. The monsters will ally with the giants, facing the gods and heroes. In this final battle between good and evil, everybody will perish - including the chief god Odin.

The Lost Vikings
Title Screen
Interplay 1993
Genre: Action, Strategy
Rating: 5/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
As I write this review/manual I assume you know nothing at all about the game. That's because anyone who has ever played The Lost Vikings will never forget it and won't need a manual or a review to get started again.

Ultima Underworld 2: Labyrinth of Worlds
Title Screen
Origin 1993
Genre: RPG, Action
Rating: 6/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
After the events of Ultima VII, the Guardian takes a last chance action, imprisoning Britannia's Castle in a blackrock dome. But this powerful magic disrupts the fabric of reality and opens a gate to other worlds.

Ultima VII, part 2: Serpent Isle
Title Screen
Origin 1993
Genre: RPG
Rating: 6/6
Language: English, Castellano
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
A few months after destroying the black gate the Avatar is sent to catch the leader of the conspiracy, who had fled to a lost land known as the Serpent Isle.

Basically the game system is the same as in the first part, but with some improvements. Mainly better graphics, noticed easily when equipping your characters and some hotkeys. But there is a big weakness added, linearity.

Uridium 2
Title Screen
Graftgold 1993
Genre: Action
Rating: 5/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga
When Uridium first came out, it was breathtaking: great looking, lovingly animated and incredibly fast at the same time. As the years went by, such qualities gradually lost some of their effect, of course. Still good, still (relatively) impressive, but not a sensation anymore.

Veil of Darkness
Title Screen
Event Horizon / SSI 1993
Genre: RPG, Adventure
Rating: 5/6
Language: English, Castellano
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
This review is part of The Review Roundup - Round 2: Games Related to the Undead

A sudden cloud of bats splashing in your airplane forces you to land in a lost, dark and small valley. A place ruled by a vampire, and where, ignoring it, you have started to fulfil a prophecy of freedom.

Victor Loomes
Title Screen
Promotion Software / LBS 1993
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 3/6
Language: Deutsch
Licence: Freeware
System: Amiga
"Victor Loomes" is a private eye in the Chicago of the 1920s. And his sponsor is..... the LBS (a German "Bausparkasse" - if you don't know what that is, visit their homepage for a good laugh)! If you're asking where the temporal (at that time, the LBS didn't exist) and local (the LBS doesn't exist anywhere outside Germany) link is, you've already understood the whole problem of the game.
