Gunship 2000
Title Screen
Microprose 1992
Genre: Simulation
Rating: 6/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
In my opinion 'Gunship 2000' is one of the best heli-simulations. Replayability is high due to the many machines you can fly and the randomly generated maps, so no two missions will be the same.

Heart of China
Title Screen
Dynamix 1992
Genre: Adventure, Action
Rating: 3/6
Language: English, Deutsch
Licence: Freeware
System: Amiga
Loud-mouthed American Jake "Lucky" Masters who served in the first World War owes the businessman Lomax lots of money. Quite conveniently, Lomax' daughter who works as a nurse to help the poor rural population of China has just been kidnapped by some local warlord. Jake seems to be the right man to come to the rescue.

History Line 1914-1918
Alternate Name(s): "The Great War 1914-1918"
Title Screen
Blue Byte 1992
Genre: Strategy
Rating: 4/6
Language: Deutsch, English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
This was most likely supposed to be the start of a series of historical games based on the Battle Isle engine. At least the subheading "1914-1918" points to that. Because there were no sequels, History Line as a bridge between Battle Isle 1 and 2 was forgotten quickly. Wrongly as I think. After all it is still an independent (good) game because of its peculiarities.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Title Screen
Lucas Arts 1992
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 6/6
Language: English, Deutsch, Francais, Castellano
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga
Indiana Jones - George Lucas' and Steven Spielberg's tribute to old 'pulp' adventure stories. Or is it the pure commercialism re-using old ideas? Hyper-mega-commercial of course. One thing is for sure though: the movies are highly entertaining, not a very deep story or multi-dimensional characters, but archetype villains fighting against a lone hero who is everything but perfect on the surface, but has a heart of gold and of course the athletic skills necessary to deliver a punch or two.

KGB
Alternate Name(s): "Conspiracy"
Title Screen
Virgin Interactive 1992
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 3/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
It's the last days of the Soviet Union. Gorbachev has destroyed part of the old structures. But as always when there's change, there are groups who want to take advantage of it. For some, it doesn't go quickly enough, some want to go back as much as possible. And some of those aren't all that peaceful about it...

Kirby's Dreamland
Title Screen
Hal Laboratory / Nintendo 1992
Genre: Action
Rating: 5/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: Game Boy
Kirby is a small bubble that can breath in air or small creatures and then blow it out at speeds that kill whatever is in its way. It can jump and fly, and it's got a mortal enemy it needs to dispose of. Welcome to Kirby's Dreamland, one of the easier platformers, which has become hugely popular with the not-so-adept-with-the-controls crowd. The game is fairly straight-forward: you proceed through four lands, each of which has its own architecture and monsters, and each of which has three stages. You fight a boss at the end of each stage, only to fight the main level boss at the end of each level. After finishing all stages, you fight the main bosses again, after which you meet the final boss. While clearing your way through the usual monsters requires nothing more than blowing air at them, most bosses throw things at you you've got to inhale and spit back at them. Yet, because you can fly and because you can always shoot, the game is much easier than, let's say, Mario platformers.

Legend of Kyrandia
Title Screen
Westwood Studios 1992
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 2/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
The evil jester Malcolm has escaped from his prison. Now he's draining all the magical energy of the realm. None of the court magicians can withstand his powers. As a sign of extreme evil, he has turned Kallak (one of the elders or something) into stone.

Locomotion
Title Screen
Kingsoft 1992
Genre: Puzzle
Rating: 4/6
Language: Deutsch, English
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga
Which game would fit the description 'digital model railroad' best? Most people would say Railroad Tycoon. It doesn't quite fit, though, because of the economic aspects. For Märklin fans, it's mostly about controlling forks and setting routes. The perfectly fitting game: Locomotion.

Microsoft Entertainment Pack
Title Screen
Microsoft 1992
Genre: Puzzle
Rating: 5/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
Microsoft Entertainment Package is a pack of 29 games, which were originally released for Windows 3.1. Over the time, some games disappeared, others are still to be found. Few of the games are original. Yet, they compose a fairly entertaining mix no office computer should be without. And home computers will bennefit from this package as well - some of the games are fun and addictive. Let us take a closer look what this package offers:

Might and Magic IV: Clouds of Xeen
Title Screen
New World Computing 1992
Genre: RPG
Rating: 3/6
Language: English
Licence: Commercial
System: PC
A wizard appeared from nowhere and now declared itself Lord of Xeen. And your party should help the king to get rid of him and restore peace to the world through the sword.

It isn't a complex or deep game, it just haves a lot of enemies to dismember while exploring the land, its cities and the dungeons in search of keys that will get you to new places to clean. Few things will give you something that is not directly related to violence, just a few spells for travelling; or the skills, that may allow you to travel through different terrains, activate the automap or give you a natural compass.
