'Indianapolis 500' is one of the first racing sims that kept me from doing anything else than racing around the famous 'Brickyard'. The game itself is actually quite simple: The Indianapolis Raceway is the only track and you can choose from three different cars. But the ultimate challenge, to finish the Indy 500 race (which takes about 2-3 hours of pure racing time) is what keeps you motivated. And very rarely you will have this satifying feeling of seeing the chequered flag.

IndyCar Racing is a racing-simulation with the famous IndyCar(now: Cart) theme.
Like in the majority of racing-simulations the view is the driver's perspective. The car's gameplay is excellent, also rookies get easy involved with it. The visualization was detailed and well ported from the original. IndyCar Racing belongs to the best racing-simulations of its time. The grade of realism could not handle with Grand Prix 2 but the game was the reference in the Indy500 category. Also in our days the gameplay is unbeaten. Visualization and Sound were innovative. For the first time there were textures on the cars, asphalt and on the sourroundings. The sound of the motor is very realistic. The 8 Race- and Speedways were lovingly copied.

"There are cases when you design something that looks good on paper and there's only one small part of it that's fun. You have to focus on that and throw the rest away." Brent Iverson, the designer, chief programmer behind LHX and the author of these words did just that. He created a flight simulator that's pure joy to play: not too much of an arcade, which would disenchant less action-prone people, and not too much of a simulation, which would leave 95% of the gaming population frowning. LHX is simply the right blend of arcade, simulation and pure fun.

In the 1980s, Microsoft was not known for gaming. At that time, the still fledging company tried to persuade the world that MS-DOS was the best thing since sliced bread, and that their VisiCalc software could take on Lotus 1-2-3 any day. There was one exception, though: Microsoft was the pioneer in civilian aviation simulators. Let me correct myself: Microsoft was the publisher of one such pioneer, Bruce Artwick, and his company, subLOGIC.

With this game and Indycar Racing Papyrus covered the two most popular American racing series which see up to today frequently appearing new versions (NASCAR 4 being the latest).
Nascars are very simplistic yet powerful stock cars which run mostly on ovals. Although not as fast as Indycars they are quite sturdy and durable and this is absolutely necessary because NASCAR races are endurance races which can last up to 3 hours pure racing time and more.

Right. What can I write about such an immensely popular game which hasn't already been said. Obviously not much. Also, what should I describe it for - everybody already knows it! Then again, maybe not really everybody. So, a brief introduction.
Red Baron is kind of a predecessor of Dynamix' Aces series. This time it's about World War I and featuring its respective planes. All known features can be found in this game: single missions, a career mode and the possibility to record your most glorious deeds.
Red Storm Rising is based on a novel by Tom Clancy creating the background for this submarine simulation by the outbreak of a conflict during the last phase of the Cold War. The player as the commander of an US attack submarine has to fulfill various missions whose success may influence the outcome of the war.
