RECOMMENDED ABANDONWARE SITES

Free Games Blog
Nice new site about abandoned games, freeware and 'flash' games. Now if they'd only make a real site... ;)

The Thing
Excellent sites covering a lot of games for a lot of systems - providing its visitors with downloads as well as loads of information.

The House of Games
Interesting site comparing versions of games released for different systems.

Game Collection
Very good site mainly dedicated to popular PC games from the 90s.

BSOD Gaming
Breaking news: Now with regular updates (once a year)!

Amiga UKHQ
One of the surviving sites (meaning it's been up for longer than a month), and one of those great legal sources for classic games and apps which have my full admiration.

Caspervalley
Well done site about the Amiga! Features not only games but also detailed technical and historical data about the different models and great support!

Flashback Abandonware
One of the oldest sites which still exist. It's especially a great source for manuals and docs - one of the biggest collections for those!

Abandoneer
Relatively young site about PC games predominantly from the 90s. And one of the few which speaks up for one of the most original games of that time: "Operation: Inner Space".

This site is somehow always coming back again and again after laying dormant for some time quite often.

Abandonia
Started out as a 'safe haven' for the best known and most popular PC games from the mid-90s. This changed a bit by the laws of great numbers, and now there are also a few rarer pieces to be found. Many reviews have been written by newbies who haven't known the games for long. An interesting approach with its own merit especially for readers who are in the same position. Be careful when looking for quotes and sources for your master thesis, though, as it produces some factually wrong pseudo-facts ;)

Old PC Games
This is a Polish site with a collection of relatively new games, but also with an above-average amount of information.

C64 Reviews
Review of classic C64 games for our Italian speaking friends.

Computer Emuzone
Huge site, mainly in Spanish, but vast parts are bilingual. The design can be a bit confusing at times. The strong side is certainly that it covers different versions for many different systems, so there's a lot variety!

Home of the Underdogs
The biggest Abandonware site on the whole web! Although reviews are mostly just quotes from other sites, it's a great resource to browse around.

ABANDONWARE RELATED SITES
SpaceQuest.net
Website dedicated to the Space Quest series by Sierra. The meeting place for fans!

Penguides
The #1 place to get help for the games you downloaded from here!
Kultpower
Huge archive of scans of old (German) computer magazines!

Krimskram
Similar concept as the above site, but specialized on the C64.

Kultloesungen
Extensive solutions and guides about semi-old games.
Ausführliche Lösungen und Tipps zu mittelalten Spielen.

GSCentral
Lots of 'nasty' cheats for console games.
