Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | Implemented due to the lack of contradiction. The lists of the games I put into those new themes can be found on the site, of course. Once again, corrections and additions are welcome. Please use the 'unique' theme sparingly, though. This concludes the themes topic. All games now have themes attached to them. Please remember always to set themes for future game entries. Quite frankly, this whole thing has been a very negative experience for me. Apparantely, nobody cares enough to even spend a single minute on it. For example, one of the last games without themes was Deluxe Trivial Pursuit. It has been viewed by several hundred people, all of which have been actively reminded that the game needs theme information. How hard can it be to apply themes to Trivial Pursuit? Nobody cared. Yet, at the same time, theme listings are being used all the time by the visitors, so the feature seems to be appreciated. People's tardiness is simply ridiculous. I would, however, like to remind everyone of the missing comparisons again - currently, 243 game entries are still without any single reference to another game! Not that I expect much to happen there, either. After all, it's really tough to come up with a comparison for, for example, Civilization - right? ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! ----- Edited by Mr Creosote at 11:42 on September 12th, 2009 |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | After most of the games have been classified, I believe I now have a better overview of what themes might still be needed to cover any game imaginable. In addition to Wandrell's proposal concerning the Fantasy theme, here are a few more themes which I think would help: Unfinished: Games which are still in development or which never got really finished Candidates: Ballern, Pudgy,... Life Simulation: Games simulating biological life Candidates: Little Computer People, El Fish, Alter Ego, EVO,... Logistics: Games dealing with transport of goods and people Candidates: Railroad Tycoon, The Train Game, Locomotion,... Quiz: Games testing the player's knowlege Candidates: Pub Trivia Simulator, Jeopardy,... Unique: Games which have got a very unique theme which is rarely (if at all) found anywhere else Candidates: El Fish,... Personally, hesitated quite long before proposing 'unique', because I don't really like such a mixed salad theme, but in the end, there seems to be little alternative, because without it, there would be more and more tiny themes creeping in. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! ----- Edited by Mr Creosote at 19:52 on September 6th, 2009 |

Member Dr Gumby Posts: 192 | Depends on the game. Some of them are focused more on fighting others on solving puzzles. Which title do you mean? Maybe I can help out. |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | Ok, to make this completely clear: The algorithm searches comparisons and reviews for game references which can't be resolved in the database. For comparisons, it's obvious where the supposed game names are. In reviews, not every word is used as a potential game name, but just parts which have been classified as a game link by the reviewer. I sometimes do that in spite of the game not being on the site - it doesn't hurt (as you can see in the Dark Legions review) and if the game appears on the site later, the link will just magically appear without me doing anything. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Dr Gumby Posts: 192 | My fault. Next time I read more carefully before I complain. I thought only comparisions should apear on that list. |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | Yes, but in the review itself, Archon Ultra is referenced. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Dr Gumby Posts: 192 | Nice Feature! But there is a litle error in the listing. The list says a review of Archon Ultra is needed. But in the review of Dark legions there is Archon (C64) mentioned as comparission. |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | The wanted games page now lists games which have been linked to in either a comparison or a review, but which aren't on the site yet. This listing will automatically update itself as either new games are linked or new games are added (filling 'requests'). ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Dr Gumby Posts: 192 | Civilization isn't historical by definition but there are historic persons, buildings and even the techtree is kind of historical correct. If you have a original copy with the "big" manual it's getting even more historical because there are many background informations in there. It's a kind of borderline case. ----- Edited by T-Pow at 17:56 on May 6th, 2009 |
