This is my suggestion.

I recommend to add(or change)the following message on Status.

Verified : Same as factory default (No modified or broken), same as original

Unverified : Not checked it yet.

Bad --> Broken : Failed to dump due to bad sectors or broken diskette.
(In this case, game or program can't be run correctly.)

Modified : Boot sector, FAT is Not same status with original default.
(In this case, user tried to dump disk on Windows without write protection. Any file is written or modified due to setup or config.
Save file is written to diskette. But the program runs without problem.)

Cracked : Removed copy protection or manual protection checking.

Copy Protected : In this case, only standard track/sector is dumped.
The program always checks hidden track/sector including copy protected
data.
Hidden track/sector must be dumped with Teledisk or Trans Copy Option Board, Kryrofux.

Verified / Unverified / Cracked / Modified / Broken / Copy Protected

Yes, I've been noting them as "bad" with the idea that it's not a perfect dump. As we didn't have many of these, actually I think those two King Quest games raise the count to three, didn't think on it, but yes, there is nothing wrong with the data, but with the metadata.

The real problem with those is that there is an infinite possible amount of variants, which I hope won't happen, would flood the collection.

I'll note them as modified also.

When I read something like this, I just have to ask:

Wandrell, how are you treating such reports? How are you entering this? This certainly does not constitute a 'bad' dump, just a 'modified' one. I.e. the images will work, even if the disks are not in the original state.

For example, this one:
Quote:
4D Sports Boxing (121)
-->(Modified Boot Sector, Root Area of FAT, Date of SETUP.DAT.)

You noted it as 'bad' in the database. Just the timestamp of a file being changed will not prevent the image from working. What about the rest? We have a 'modified' status as well. 'Bad', in my opinion, should only be used if the image is not working. Otherwise, what is 'modified' for?

ibmpc5150: For you, there is a request in there, too. I greatly appreciate all the verification work you're doing here. However, your reports are often prone to misunderstandings (as in the quoted cases). We should all strive to record the status as accurately as possible and when you're already doing the research and tests, we should prevent from needing to test the same images again. For that, we need reliable information being accurately recorded in the catalogue. So if you declare an image as 'bad', please make sure that this actually implies that it truly is corrupted in a way which makes it unusable. Otherwise, state the exact nature of the problem in the terms of the stati we have – and if we need more stati, let me know.

Hmm, that's interesting.
I've not seen that FormGen released the game with Apogee logo.
(This game includes Apogee logo.)
On the other hand, Apogee resold the FormGen's game (Spear Of Destiny / Commander Keen 6).

P.S I've send PM (Private Message)
