Yes, gee is k-pop, but I think it sounds a lot like eurodance (the more bubblegum stuff anyway).
I debated whether scissor sister counted as eurodance. It's certainly dance, but.. *shrug*.

Try dr bombay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vFEBZd-fHQ

...and of course, if you talk about aqua, you can't not bring up toybox: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BddgVkX_e70

I fixed the links in my previous post, I didn't notice they had gotten borked.

Heh, yeah.. you're not alone, but eurodance really started with bands like Snap, 2 Unlimited, DJ Bobo and Dr. Alban... :) And by the way, the styles are even different a bit. Aqua is the so-called "bubblegum" eurodance, which is really a later offshoot of the original stream appeared in mid 90s, whose main characteristic is accentuated romanticism, exhilirated festive mood and joyful fantasy lyrics, while the base style was a bit colder, aloof, at times dramatic and even slightly aggressive. "Bubblegum" is a "kids" version of it, which can be easily spotted... :)

Yes, it does. Although, it swerves a little to plain euro synthpop (bands like Yakida, Pandora, Freebee etc), but it's pretty much in the same stream anyway.

And yeah, surely we all know this song ;) I still rememember in the days of my childhood people would mispronounce the chorus in all possible and impossible ways :)

Ah.. E-rotic.. i like a couple of their songs. This one is okayish.. but in my opinion they use the same old music sample too many times, so one song would sound awfully similar to another. Yep, that's exactly one of those bands.

And here's a perfect example of another bubblegum band :) And strangely.. i'm not familiar with it.. sounds pretty.

Aaand another one :) Never heard this one, but i do know Crispy. Nice.

Erm.. you sure? It shows some korean girls, whom i first deemed japanese and quickly deduced "huh? J-pop"? Then i noticed the band is korean and i thought "hm.. probably these call themselves K-pop", looked up wikipedia and bingo... :) Anyway dude, i think that's a wrong link.

And this is neo-disco man. Or Nu-Disco, according to wiki. No relation to eurodance, but.. thanks! :)

P. S. Um.. do you mind fixing the links? They are a little messed up if you click on them :)

I might've seen it, and it could be something known, but... i can't remember. There are too many songs and music videos out there. But sounds definitely familiar. Maybe because it's a generic script...

While we're still on the topic, maybe you guys can help me. I only remember the video of one song. It was sort of a James Bond style action feature with a guy rescuing a girl from a baddie. There was a boat chase and the video ended with it – "to be continued". I don't believe I've ever seen a followup, though. Anyone remember the name of the song?

Well, how about this one? Blümchen - Nur Geträumt – The original might be slightly better, but then it's still a very decent song. Plus dolphins rule(d, at least in the 90ies ;)).

And this one, Das Modul - Robby Roboter, is almightily alliterative. ;)

Now that I got into the mood, I finally remembered the song I hated most during all those years: Sin with Sebastian – Shut up and sleep with me. Even now I just can't get through without shutting it off prematurely!

OK, I will build a bridge over this gap of education and try to get my hands on the book. ;)

I think Scooter has already been mentioned somewhere above, but his Hyper Hyper always makes me laugh for reasons I can't explain.

It's a book by Michael Ende originally – very recommendable read! The puppet TV version is pretty good as well.

So much for not going off topic. :D Well, I do know that he drives around in a train with an engineer named Lukas and that they appeared in a puppet show, but I never had the opportunity to see it. Judging by Wikipedia it seems like I missed quite a lot…

I would be lying if I said I haven't felt the same way at times. Best example would be The Hidden Cameras whose songs I liked whenever they turned up in the radio… until I realized what they were singing about and was a bit confused (which is a definite understatement). Yet I still do hope that our society will reach a point when gays are as accepted that anyone can listen to their songs (or other creative stuff) without the need to 'belong' to them.

But to stop this thread from totally drifting off-topic:
I remember having a kind of competition with my younger sister who would stand listening to a certain song for a longer time. So we kept the CD-player on endless repeat of Dolls United - Eine Insel mit zwei Bergen… and now I don't even remember who broke first, but we must have listened to it about a dozen of times or so until we agreed to stop it. Funnily I still have no clue who Jim Knopf is…

Actually, no. I'm not a big fan of Aqua in general :) I mean, i do like a few songs, but they aren't really representative of 90s eurodance. For example, here's what i like: Aqua - Turn Back Time

I prefer Daze over Aqua :)

Yeah, i guess you're right :) He's still kind of exotic around here.

Nah, come on people, if you are afraid of some homo-erotic imagery (never mind that the female eye candy more than makes up for it) just click the window away and get swept away by the beat. ;)

Sometimes it's a little more complicated. You may like the music, the song, yet it may somehow suggest homosexual implication or whatever, and it feels like you're taking part in that movement. Kinda. Nearest example would be Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round. I used to like it, but when i found out that the whole band is actually gay and the song is almost like a gay anthem i quickly imagined billions of gays enjoying iy... it made me feel uncomfortable and i stopped listening to it :) So.. it's not even about homophobia, it's just a little confusion you have to face from time to time, for many small reasons.

Actually I assumed that you wrote in a jokingly manner, so I tried to answer in a similar way.

Humour doesn't always transfer well over the internet, so to clear this up on a more serious note: Personally I don't mind if this shows some men which could be considered gay or men with some rather revealing 'clothing' (which btw. could also be aimed at a female audience). Actually I even think the video is very creative and fun, which really suits the very vivid music. Yet if you listen closely to the lyrics, you might be surprised that this might actually be a very dark song after all. All of this leaves me with the impression, that there went a bit of thought in the creation of the song and its video, a quality which I always treasure.
