Member Retired Gumby Posts: 964 | Quote: Posted by Mr Creosote at 18:00 on September, 24th 2003: I put two boxes next to each other to save vertical space (because let's face it: the pages are already way too long) and I made the remaining 'last' box wider because it doesn't look as good if it just occupies half of the width and only has blank space next to it. So you actually think the last one should only be half the size? Not really. I was just saying that if it's hard-coded, you are limited to exactly three games. If you had some loop in place instead, you could add as many (or as few) comparable games as you'd want. ----- NetDanzr<br /> -The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog- |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 6616 | Mozilla 1.0.0 All are looking fine to me, with the exception of Dillo, which is - as usual - stricter about the html standard than I am. Can't blame it for that of course, and what's displayed looks good enough. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 6616 | Er... this looks... all wrong! Check the attachment, this is how it looks for me (and that's how it's supposed to look). May I know what browser you've used to produce this screenshot? Edit: I found an error in the code which I fixed. Could you check again? And could you check if it occurs on the respective German page as well? Edited by Mr Creosote at 22:49 on September, 24th 2003 ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Retired Gumby Posts: 936 | Like the differences in the vertical sizes of the boxes are off. I realize in this example there is the double description... but it is what I was talking about. Member Retired Gumby Posts: 936 | I really have no idea about this, but is there a way to standardize the size of the black boxes? Like see which one is the biggest then make them all that size... It would look a little cleaner that way. ----- Keep your stick on the ice |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 6616 | No, it's not hard-coded. It is a while-loop, but within it, the script checks if there is a 'next comparison' waiting to be displayed and also checks if it's the 'second game' (to be displayed on the right) and then chooses from the three code alternatives automatically Check out the first entries in the Adventure genre, there you can see different numbers of comparisons now. Member Retired Gumby Posts: 964 | I remember this thread Anyway, it looks good, but I have one small comment: The table layout (2 cells in the first row, one on the bottom) - is that hardcoded? Because if so, you're pretty much limited to a certain number of games, whereas if you had a game per row, you could do a basic "while" loop. ----- NetDanzr<br /> -The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog- |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 6616 | Even though I'm sure nobody remembers this, I thought I'd let you know the first trace of this system is now online here. So far, it's only this one entry and it's also technically limited to Amiga games at the moment (because I had to start programming somewhere), but I'll try to add as many of these comparisons as possible in the next few weeks. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |
