The problem also occurs on 486 machines using MS-DOS, so that'll hardly help in this case.

This is a known problem on many machines. I never quite understood what's causing it, so I guess you'll just have to stand it the way it is. Waiting solves it, so it's not fatal.

I've had Sid Meier's Covert Action for years and am still totally adicted. Nowadays, when I run it in DOS mode from Win98, or from a DOS floppy created in WinXP, I have one problem.

Virtually everything works except, when I go to break into a hideout, the whole thing hangs up and won't accept any more keystrokes.

However, if I give up in frustration and go away for a while, when I get back to my PC it's sitting waiting happily for me to pick my weapons.

Has anyone any idea what could be causing this delay that takes over the machine totally? Do I need to get an older DOS floppy?

Oh, I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms.
