Just experienced the same situation at university today. Right in the middle of a lecture, a phone was ringing really loud and the professor quickly jumped to his suitcase because his thought it was his phone. ;)

I saw that quite often in the busses in Slovakia. It's much more fun when the bus is so full that it takes a while to pick up the phone, giving everybody enough time to dig up their own phones. I can't wait till somebody finds a way to make all phones in a certain location ring at once ;)

Fair enough. It just reminded me of the situation I come across daily on a train: the standard Nokia tune can be heard, and at least ten people immediately start fumbling in their pockets, checking whether it's their phone ;)

Oh, so you see no need to be able to identify it whether it's your phone which is ringing? :P

Not really - I keep it at home instead of a landline :P

Kind of defeats the purpose of a phone, doesn't it?

If I had a cell phone, the ring would just be a series of rip roaring farts. That way if it rang during class or something else important, it would just seem like I have terrible gas.

Mine's always set to "Silent". :)

We have those commercials too, among the most irritating are the "biker frog" and "sleepy the cute little chick".

Edit: Link. Imagine this popping up during every single commercial break.

I still have my default Nokia tune on my phone. Somehow, I don't seem to understand the reason for all those ring tones.

but it does sound like a fad the kids would pick up on fast.
It came out of nowhere and turned into something which kids get deeply into debt for within weeks :pain:

Ugh... This is the first ringtone ad I've ever seen, hopefully it doesn't get that bad. Of course I hardly watch TV and our movie channels are commercial free :P

Man, how I hate ringtone TV spots! This 'industry' is currently in full swing here. It's not possible to watch a movie on TV without having text like "get this movie's music on your phone now" scrolling through the picture all the time

I just saw a 30 second commercial, and the only thing it was selling was a hamster dance ringtone for your cellphone. Is it just me or are they jumping on the bandwagon a tad late?
