Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 6645 | Make sure each item in the whole directory tree is 8 characters or less and doesn't contain any spaces or special characters. So, for example, just put it in C:DGATE or C:GAMESDGATE . In the latter case, the string to put into the text file is just what I wrote: C:GAMESDGATE . Nothing after it. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Baby Gumby Posts: 3 | Hi there. Thanks for your help. I have another question though---I've been fooling around with this in my text editor and am not sure I'm doing it right. For example, the game is under C:Program FilesDGATEdgate but at that point I'm not sure what to put at the end. I've tried putting a "dgate.exe" and a "legend.bat" at the end but still get the same error messages. I'd appreciate any further help you could give me....this stuff (editing) is new to me and I feel a little lost. Thanks! Tracy |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 6645 | Open LEGEND.INI in a text editor and change the path C:DGATE to what you've extracted it to in the last four lines. Then save the file and run LEGEND.BAT again. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Baby Gumby Posts: 3 | Hi everyone. I just found this site tonight and downloaded Death Gate. When I double click on the icon for it, it clicks like it's about to run the game, then clicks again, bouncing me right back to the desktop. I tried clicking on another icon, the one that says Legend, and when I do that I get a message saying that the game can't find the "D" drive. I guess it wants a game cd, which of course I don't have, and so I'm not sure what to do at this point. Has anyone else had problems running this game and if so, how did you finally get it going? Thanks so much for your help, Tracy |
