I think Tuss had a good idea when he said we (the forum members) could compete in a simple game like Generally and start a tournament here on this board. We'd just have to choose a game we all can agree with. Someone interested?

Sure, I'm always interested - even if it's Gene Rally or chess ;)

If a game has a network play option in which you're stated for the other player's IP, would it be playable over Internet then? That's the same protocoll, isn't it?

Tapuak and I just tested some:
-Blobby Volleyball (available from The Good Old Days) -> working after some tries; everybody should use the same version (the one from TGOD is the most stable one)
-ZSNES (SNES emulator) with the example WWF Raw -> working; everybody must use the same emulator version (newest ZSNES for Windows)

With basically every SNES game being available, we shouldn't have much problems finding something :)

I'm open to both 'fun' games (i.e. playing against / with someone just for the sake of it) as well as an organized 'tournament' :D

Tetrinet sounds good, but so does a lot of stuff, but I've played that before.

Whenever we do this and I'm around, I can host, I have T4 with a 1.6 GHz. Sometimes tution's worth it, eh :P

I'm up to play any game you propose... Just don't have any ideas right now... :embarassed:

We could also take a simple racing game like Micro Machines and compete in breaking each other's records. That way we wouldn't have to be online at the same time.

For a "real time" tournament, I'd agree with everything mentioned here plus some simple SNES games: Bomberman (up to four players), Street Fighter, WWF Raw...

Well, since nobody really seems to propose something definite (of course I do agree with all proposals, yes), I'll vote for Micro Machines 2. Not necessarily in the way Tapuak proposed, but as a series of Head to Head challenges.

Does Micro Machines 2 have a network option?

Not 'by default', but we could use the SNES version ;)

Yes, but does that work with more than two players as well?

I don't know, but does it have to? We could play against each other in pairs until everyone has competed against all the others. One point for each win and so on.

Okay, in my opinion we can make a start with that game. (of course that doesn't mean the other proposals will be ignored)

For all members who don't have Micro Machines 2: Download

With this post, I sign up for the MM2 tournament. :)

I think it's a good idea to start with a game like Micro Machines because there isn't that much training needed. Take Street Fighter 2 for example - I wouldn't have the slightest idea which fighter to choose, how to activate the special moves and so on :worried:

I think it said all players have to have identical ROMs for Internet play, everybody should download the one Tapuak put up. Also keep the filename of the ROM, because it has to be identical, too.

I'm in :D
