Member Prof Gumby Posts: 421 | This question was posed in our RE class today, and I wanted a wider opinion, Was Jesus an early form of Communist? If you think about it he shared some of the same ideals as Communisim as we know it Shared Wealth Equality for all Converting others to his beliefs The only negative is that communisim as we know it dosen't believe in religion, but there are many forms of communisim is Jesus Communism just another of these forms? ----- Not all That Glitters Is Gold, Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost. |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11126 | (taking for granted he is quoted correctly in the bible which is of course highly questionable) My answer is no - some points: -his idea of 'shared wealth' did not oppose private ownership; it was more in the lines of 'wealth means responsibility for others', i.e. if you're rich, you should take care the poor people don't starve to death -his idea of 'equality' didn't include many groups; take women for example -in none of his stories, he opposes institutional governments (while the goal of communism is to dissolve them); only their misuse, their unfairness and he believes they aren't the highest authority ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |
