Guest | YESSSSS!!! i finally found my original "dime city" - cd and it still works! of course i tried to install it on my pc (win xp), mounting the cd and the destination path using dos box. unfortunately it doesn't work. i can start the installation file but this error msg appears after i have chosen what kind of installation i want (minimum/normal/vollständig): Fehler bei Dateizugriff (I/O Error 5) (Opening Dime.cde) Line 171 Col. 21 any suggestions how i can install that game with little efforts? google wasn't that helpful (install a virtual machine) aside from my problem: as far as i know starbyte doesn't exist anymore. are you interested in that game? i could make a disc image if you want to and if this distribution is legal (german law). |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | Could be many things, but it does look like your CD is actually unreadable / scratched. You should get an error when you try making an image, so maybe test it that way. The easiest way is probably to get a pre-installed version and play that instead. It's definitely illegal, no matter whether the company still exists or not. Not that we really care about that here. If you're willing to provide the game along with a review, just submit it to the site - always welcome! ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | The image (after converting to regular, non-proprietary ISO-9660 format) works fine for me in Dosbox. Installs and runs without a glitch. How did you mount the CD in Dosbox? Did you use the -t cdrom switch? What about -usecd and -ioctl? ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Pupil Gumby Posts: 12 | YAY IT WOOOOOOORRRRRRKKKKKKSSSSSSS!!!!!! THIS IS JUST G R E A T !!! i think i was 16 when i played it for the last time. this is thirteen years ago! if only i could remember what exactly to do, but i'll find out for sure. iso images... well until now i never had to create some. i use win xp and ubuntu jaunty. i have no idea if brasero has an option. using windows i only have nero and and older version of alcohol. nero proposed me some obscure *.nrg format so i switched to alcohol. if you can provide an (non-propretary)alterative, just tell me. maybe i can provide more games that are not listed yet. ----- Edited by calmi at 19:05 on May 25th, 2009 |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | Waiting for you to submit the game to the site after you've played it a again then As for disk image formats and their creation, the appropriate FAQ covers that. Before you go uploading lots and lots of stuff, though, please bear in mind that the vast majority of games not on the site aren't on the site not because nobody has them, but because nobody bothered adding them - for lack of time or interest. If you want to make them publically available, great, but the way to go is to give them a review yourself. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |
