Member Prof Gumby Posts: 486 | Here is the list that not dumped copy protected area. They can't be dumped with standard floppy dump tools. A few of games can be dumped by Teledisk / Anadisk / FDA / Trans Copy Option Board / Kryoflux. 2400 AD (756) Airborne Ranger (132) |

I have never been a fan of propietary formats, even if some people really support them for CD images, but I only find them useful in a few cases. Of course, this is one of these cases. But for now, I store teledisk and Kryoflux images for the future, there are already lots of images waiting. In particular, I'm not so sure about the incredible huge Kryoflux images. For the rest, it's done. |

Member Prof Gumby Posts: 486 | Bad "Missing copy protection sectors." You did very well. I know it is not easy to dump copy protected image. A few of images can be dumped by TransCopy (Copy II PC Option Board) or Kryoflux. But many of copy protected disks can be dumped by Teledisk. ----- Edited by ibmpc5150 at 21:46 on April 21st, 2012 |

I know, but I've got too used to people relating things to the extension. It reminds me of when I was a kid, and thought that changing an extension somehow would recode the file. I mean, we support raw images. I don't know if there is any standard for floppy images, but as said I preffer not using propietary formats for now, but any file of that kind I get I'll keep storing for the future. |

Absolutely! I have not followed the SPS/Kyroflux project closely in the last 8 years or so (some of my image contributions from 2004 still have not been processed/answered by them), but I heard that their software library has been finally released under an Open Source licence. Is that true? Does this include the file specification, then? If so, this would be an open format. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! ----- Edited by Mr Creosote at 08:38 on April 22nd, 2012 |

Member Retired Gumby Posts: 1092 | Last time I checked, Kryoflux needed some kind of special reader and libraries were in development. But still, recent images made with their tools were lots of MBs for images of never more than 1.5MB, so they still look under development unless they made a big change recently, and on their page they still are on Beta. |
