Member Prof Gumby Posts: 560 | Legally I'm a catholic christian seeing as I was baptised and all that but in reality I have my own religious/philosophical view on life, the universe and everything which I started to develop since I was about 12. ----- "In theory, if people bred as fast as ants, and with an equal indifference for it's surrounding species, earth would have 5 million human inhabitants at the turn of the century. Member Prof Gumby Posts: 336 | I have serious problems understanding how anybody with at least a half decent education can believe in god or religion. Religion was an effective means of controlling mass population when civilizations began to develop, it was an efficient way of keeping dumb peasants in check. I pray each day (hehe) that I will live to see the day the science proves the non-existance of god. |

Member Prof Gumby Posts: 560 | I don't believe in god either but that doesn't mean I can't still be religious... I just think that there is more to this life then just the material plane which we percieve as reality. According to me, there is an entire spiritual plane (which doesn't have to have any relation towards any deity of any kind) which we cannot percieve with our senses but only with our mind and our ability to reason and think abstractly and it is around that plane that my religion is centered. Ergo, I'm perfectly religious without the need of a deity... Member Prof Gumby Posts: 421 | You gotta admit that the Hitchhikers people put up a pretty good arguement Quote: "The argument goes something like this: 'I refuse to prove that I exist,' says God, 'for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.' " 'But,' says Man, 'the Babel fish proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments you don't. QED.' " 'Oh dear,' says God, 'I hadn't though of that,' and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. Tell m,e you can rwally argue with that, and would said God create somethnig that started so many wars like the book also said Quote: Posted by Mr Creosote at 11:14 on May, 3rd 2003: 42!
