@bmanbdaman,

Added:

Mortal Kombat 2 (3065): All disks were infected with Stealth_Boot.C virus (fixed). Manual copy protection.

The only real problem with this game is, in fact, the virus, which was surprisingly fixed by Windows Defender as opposed to just removing the files altogether. It did recover the boot sector of each image, but now I cannot guarantee the boot data is 100% identical to the original. I just don't know. All I know is that the files are now positively healthy, which this time required no manual labor on my part.

As for the timestamps, they look pretty legit to me. Yes, it is quite uncommon for them to be more recent than the file's true creation/modification date, but some manufacturers do it for unknown reasons, and I'm pretty sure your disks weren't made using the CLASSIC release, at least there is no trace of CT, which is indicative of file copy under windows. Someone undertaking such task should be clever enough to do it under DOS let alone filter out CLASSIC info files, meaning, this scenario is highly improbable.

@Vreyes,

Unfortunately your images of La Colmena cannot be accepted as they are self-made with WinImage.

Hmm. $100 for infected disks, not sure if I got a good deal. :]

Well, it's always a risk, you know... but this floppy edition is also rare as hell, so, I think, it was worth it overall. Of course, I'd rather it was a couple of bad sectors instead, because that would be so much easier to fix with no doubts as to accuracy. But boot sectors can always vary a bit even with the same OEM IDs and geometry and what really sucked is that every single disk was infected and I couldn't use at least one for comparison. Oh well, let us hope the new boot data is actually old and matches the original or that soon enough someone will upload a new set of this game for comparison/verification. Thank you very much for your costly contribution!

Awesome new games!

Rotor (3092) : Looks like there's a little glitch here:
- Disk image file name is "Rotor (Microdaft)(1991)(5,25'').img"
- It's a 360K 5.25" DS DD, not a 720K 3.5" DD disk

@Moebius:

In your database, Descent's disk1.img (id#3111) does have an SHA-1 hash of "b79fe9475b779a479af391dc5f52953ba1a7400e". This seems wrong. It should be "e0536e9f19f5d2be97987fa3f891d7949cfd2dd1". Strangely, your CRC32 hash matches my value with "9328930C". Anyway, I think this is an error.

Corrected, thank you. I copied the hash of ID 1614 by mistake. Not sure about CRC32, where did you see that?

Oh, I see. Well, that must be generated internally by the script. Eventually it will take over SHA1 too and we shall rid of manual hashing (and mistakes) once and for all.

I found another set of "Descent" shareware disks. Version 1.1.

(Usually, I'd prefer the commercial/full version, but since I only owned the Shareware version as a kid, I do have a soft spot for these.)

That's awesome, may I ask you how you got it? Make sure to always have the disks in "write protected mode"!
