Some information about this unpredictable bug I was talking about, and which is now (hopefully) fixed (the preview window certainly looks different now): in the topic 'Search old game "Elysium"' on page 2 you can see a post that got screwed up with some slashes, the one right after Pada1's longest post on that page. When I was typing the post first, I previewed it then posted, so far so good, than afterwards when I submitted the edit it suddenly had the slashes everywhere. My first post on page 3 also had the same problem + a part was cut off after the edit; luckily I had for some reason copied the entire post, so I edited it again, pasted the correct version back in and it appeared correctly again after retrying that same 'trick' two or three times... Thought this might give you a clue where to look further if this ever happens again, if it happens to me, I'll notify you (only reason I didn't already is because I thought it was probably my own fault, until my post got cut off for the first time yesterday)...

The problem about the slashes should definitely be fixed. Can't say for sure about the cutting off, because that's mostly theory... thanks for the detailed description :)

Ok, got a problem here. Go look at my last post in the SimCountry thread.

The problem this time seems to be linked to post edition. I got a slash right before a ', and my post got cut at the very exact place I placed a " in the post.

I also previwed it. I always do.

After reading again the last post of The Mole on this thread, I can see that it's extremely similar to mine.

I hope the ' and " thing will help you look further down into the problem, if you didn't corner it already.

It should be working now. Since I didn't remember exactly what I did after Mole's report about the posting, the fix could be incomplete though. Please try it out.

I don't have time and I feel kind of sick right now, so I won't test it. Be sure that I'll tell you if I notice any other strange behavior tough.

Just for the record, those brackets ([]) been placed by myself. If you remember well, I used to do that from the beginning everytime I edited and corrected one of my post so everyone could see what was edited. It's not really important but I wanted to precise it, since it would be stupid to have you waste time on that for nothing, thinking the code introduced them in the post like it appears to do with the 's.

Small "bug" concerning the clickable board code: The "italic" button is too small to see any lettering on it; possibly a browser problem (using Mozilla).

Just to note, the italic button is A-OK in IE.
Also, the smilies stop animating when you click on one, but that is hardly a problem.

Well.... yes. I have to confess I only tested it with Opera 6 and Netscape 4. Never noticed the ugly borders around the smilies for example and the code buttons were aligned incorrectly, too. I fixed those problems.

The tiny buttons indeed only show up in Mozilla. I don't know an immediate solution to it and since I'm really, really, really ill at the moment (just came back from the doctor), I can't look into it anymore for now. Will fix it when I get online next time.

The smilies stopping animation is a bug of your browser, Tuss, I don't think I can do anything about it - it works with all of mine. But as you said, that shouldn't be all that fatal.

Because I couldn't think of anything better right now, I just went the 'messy' way and added spaces around the 'I' and the 'B'. It should be working now, but if anyone knows a better solution which is directly using attributes of the buttons, I'd be glad to know.

As far as I know, such buttons can't have any attributes for their size, unless you use a normal image for them. Anyway, it works now. :)

Edit: By the way, what's "RC2" supposed to mean?

I was just thinking the same thing... Does the RC2 mean you intend to 'release' the forum's code for other people's use?

"RC" is indeed usually the abbreviation of "Release Candidate", I just used it because I was too lazy to think of anything else, not because I'll spread the source code. If anyone asked me for it, I probably wouldn't refuse, but that's different from what you meant. The 'releases' as indicated on the help page 'version history' are for my own archival reasons primarily. I'm putting these 'extensions' after the version number to indicate this 'release' of this version is still an early one and it is bound to have bugs. Like the ones you found in 'RC1'. When no bugs are found in a certain period of time, I'll just change the name and 'RC2' (or 'RC15' or whatever it is then) will become the 'finished' version of 2.0 ;)

That "bug" been annoying me for so long I can't even recall when it began.

What's that point of having an option in the upper menu named "Mark Posts as read", if all the new threads automatically disapears as soon as I read one?

I've experienced similar problems myself with all the '>>>' disappearing as soon as I read 1 new post and go back towards the main index... I just assumed it was because of a faulty (sp?) browser-pref (normally I would check my coockies-settings but since Creo prides this noard in being coockie-free,...) seeing as it started with me around the same period as I started to use Multizilla... If it could be fixed, it would be greatly appreciated :D If it is my browsers fault, never mind this post then :)

The problem actually lies a bit deeper: some days ago, it struck me I always get a new session ID with every page I visit. That is why the 'new' flags are updated all the time. It's kind of strange because I didn't change anything on the session handling for many months! These are very complex routines though, and I will not get to it this month.
