I hate this, Ol Mr Creosote should appreciate this. I bought a "Horror Express" DVD for 2 dollars, and now I have a terribly produced piece of junk instead of a slice of pizza. A slice of pizza is 2 bucks here in New York.
It's not easy watching the big ugly monster in the crate distorted by horrid contrast.

<td valign="top"><div class="post">Bah. Horror Express is one of the movies I&apos;ve been looking for for <i>months</i> now - but there just <i>isn&apos;t</i> a region 2 DVD! Same with other potentially great movies like for example The Tingler. Absolutely no way to get them <img style="border:0" src="/forum/images/smilies/angry.gif" alt="<img src="/forum/images/smilies/angry.gif" alt="" align="bottom" />" align="bottom" width="17" height="17" /><br /> <br /> I watched Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter and Twins of Evil (surprise, surprise <img style="border:0" src="/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif" alt=";)" align="bottom" width="17" height="17" />) recently, though, and they were both great <img style="border:0" src="/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" alt=":D" align="bottom" width="17" height="17" /></div><div>----- </div><div class="signature"><p><em>Now you see the violence inherent in the system!</em></p> </div></td>

I watched Gothika yesterday, and it was a horrible piece of poo movie. "A Demo Derby Love Story" was way better.

Well, Mr Creosote, I could send you this piece of crap I have. It's like watching a Sega CVD FMV at times, but that cool whistling melody that the crazy Rasputin looking monk does is crystal clear mono.
Ugh.

Let me know. It has tided me over until I can find a decent release. :P

The problem is rather that (without actually having tried it) I don't think I can play region 1 DVDs due to artificial hardware restrictions :( I'm no expert on this topic, so could someone enlighten us how this region stuff works?

You can disable the region code limitations of some stand-alone DVD players, such as mine. If it's a PC drive, I'm quite sure there are ways to solve this problem,, too. I guess good old Google will help. ;)

After a quick search on Google, I found a tool to change the drive's region code setting. This is its output:
Quote:
Current Region Code settings:
RPC Phase: II
type: NONE
vendor resets available: 4
user controlled changes resets available: 5
drive plays discs from region(s):, mask=0xFF

As far as I understand this, I can change the setting 5 times (not really a lot), but it's currently set to play all DVDs (at least that's how Google translates the last line). So I guess I'll leave the hardware setting alone, as that's pretty much the optimal setting I guess ;)

No idea.... 11? That only goes for classic horror, though. Movies which only rely on spurting blood annoy me.

Hopefully you haven't seen Kill Bill yet. Of course, that isn't a horror movie...

Me too. I can't like hyped movies. I don't care how good they may be. Hype poisons stuff for me.
A movie that is purported to be classic and cool because it is forced on you as such usually is phony bullshit.
That's the Quentin Tarentino type.
Movies that the masses find classic these days are just hyped garbage. and yes, I have not seen anything but a half hour of Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs.

I agree about hype, I'm always very reluctant to go see those movies that 'everybody' should have seen... Stuff like Star Wars: Episode One, or the entire Lord Of The Rings trilogy; or even Titanic!

Sometimes you can be mistaken of course, for example it took me years to finally watch Trainspotting and I thought that was a very good movie even though it was th? hype at the time. And as a bit of a Tarantino fan I think both Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are good movies, way better than Kill Bill in any case.
