Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | It's an unofficial sequel to The Case of the Cautious Condor, using the same game engine. Relatively unknown in the western hemisphere, but pretty popular in Japan ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | On the site you pointed us to, it says in reference to CotCC: Quote: The first in the series that spawned Deadfellows This indicates CotCC came first. In any case, MMSD is presumably another very fine game of the same series ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | Here's another potential problem: The game comes with four files which I've been told belong to a program called 'CloneCD'. Since I don't have that one, I just used the accompanying .cue file to burn the .img file without using the .ccd and .sub files. As far as I can see, .ccd is just some configuraiton file like .cue, so it shouldn't be fatal to leave it out. What does the .sub contain, though? It is a few MB big, so there should be something in it. Or can I just leave it out like I did? Any experts on this? ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Guest | Clone CD is a shareware CD burner. It's downloadable if you want to look for it. As an alternative, use DaemonTools to view the CCD image and any other CD burner to copy the virtual disk to a real one. That's pretty straightforward. As an alternative alternative, just let folks download all 4 files and figure things out on their own. -- Ming the More-or-Less |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | That's all very fine, but CloneCD doesn't run on my system, and the DaemonTools I know is a tool to start and stop deamons on runtime, so that's hardly helpful. In any case, I've done some reading on this .sub file, and it's apparantely the 'subchannel data' which is used for hidden copy protection schemes stored somewhere on a CD. Since we're talking about a game from a time when CDs were virtually uncopyable (term?) anyway, I'm fairly sure I can disregard this - especially since the game is running fine. I'll hand out just the two files I used to burn the CD to the visitors, because there's really no need to get more complicated than necessary. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Student Gumby Posts: 30 | Do you use linux only? I use also linux but I have a partition with windows for games and such stuff. Because I haven't the game yet, what do you think about it yet? Better than cotcc or the same? |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11097 | It's not so much about me, but also about usability for visitors. Everybody with a CD burner can burn ISO images and BIN/CUE. Both these formats work independently from the host system. Unless there is a real practical reason to use anything different, I don't see the point. The game suffers a little from more 'in-the-face' style humor. CotCC mainly drew its enjoyment from the stereotypical characters, MmsD cracks lots of direct, flat jokes even in the introduction already. It gets less over time, which is good. The voiceacting is also a little weaker in general. On the positive side, the game seems to be a little more diverse and complex. That's not a final judgement, of course, but just based on roughly half an hour of playing ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Student Gumby Posts: 30 | I asked because you said that CloneCD doesn't run on your system. Actually I also like iso-files more because it's all in one file and it's system independent I would have it preferred if the game style would be more like cocc but I will test later. |
