Rejoice, people, your beloved NetDanzr is back!

I have just returned from a wonderful trip across the US. Following the lead of others, I'd like to say a few words about my trip, and share a few pictures. The photos were scaled down to a size that should be comfortable even for dial-uppers.

I started in Aspen, CO, and made my way up to Bozeman, MT. My first stop were the Grand Tetons, where I hiked up the Cascade Canyon:

After that, I stayed a few days in Bozeman, going down to Yellowstone every day. While the Old Faithful geyser was impressive, I spent more time hiking: up Mt. Washburn, down to the waterfalls, and across the plains to some thermal springs:
Image

My next stop was the Black Hills, but before that, I visited the Little Big Horn and Devils Tower. I don't understand how anybody could feel sorry for Custer for conducting such a huge blunder, though. Devils Tower was even more impressive than what you get to see in The Close Encounters of the Third Kind:

Once in Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore was a must, as was the Needlass Highway, Jewel Cave and Wind Cave. The four guys at Mt. Rushmore were photogenic, no matter which angle I have chosen:

From there, I made my way east, stopping in the Badlands. Sorry I don't offer a more revealing picture with you, but the Badlands are something you must experience yourself. They are by far the most beautiful thing I have seen on this trip:

After that, I was driving for two days, till I arrived in Buffalo. I spent the previous night near Chicago, where I witnessed a street race. I got immenselly pissed off - those damn cars were so loud I could not sleep. Anyway, here's the obligatory Niagara falls picture:

For those 11 days, I was completely cut off the civilized world. I refused to connect to the Internet, I never turned on my cell phone, and the only channel I watched was the Weather Channel. Anyone cares to tell me what was going on here?

I can tell you what's going on here: You made a spelling mistake in the topic's title! In reference to your ICQ profile, it should have been "Guess Who's back" :P

Looks like all you saw on your trip was mountains. The second to last photo looks indeed best by far! A very inviting athmosphere

Well, I was reffering to Eminem's song, not to my ICQ profile ;).

And as for the mountains, that what I went there for. My route took me through a few large cities - Chicago, Cincinatti, etc., which I completely ignored...

How did you spend the nights then? Did you camp somewhere in the wilderness?

Now I want to see it, and knowing I will probably never just makes me feel bad. :(

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed yourself, and welcome back :D

Tuss: More than worth it :D. I am already planing a trip for the next year to Grand Tetons. I want to stay there longer: maybe a week or two, and do the really long hikes.

Tapuak: I stayed in the cheapest motels I could find. All of them had TV, but the only thing I watched was the Weather Channel to know what to expect the next day.

Delos: I may post some more images tomorrow. I've got too many of them, so selecting the proper ones is a pain...

And here are some of my trip statistics:

Miles traveled - 4,354.5
Miles hiked - around 50
Gallons of gas burned - 186.41
Mileage - 23.36 miles per gallon
Pulled over by cops - 0
Miles hiked - around 50
Gallons of water drunk - 3
Cups of coffee (12oz) drunk - 32
Consecutive days without a beer - 9
Pictures taken - 1,172
Pictures kept - 351

Just noticed myself that I had used a phrase in my second-to-last post which reminded me of a famous classic quote - that is why I completed it with my last post ;)
Quote:
Your parents freed the monkey with a charm spelled out in random letters on the board. Was there some further fiend that nudged their arm? The answer, Madam, is for you to know...
