Antheads

I'm having a little trouble with this title. I remember the horror of setting up the game from when I had the originals, but I can't get it to work.

I try using WinUAE to boot up with Antheads1 in DF0, but after the shell window disappears the screen turns yellow and the whole thing restarts.

I tried putting disk 2 in DF1, and then also with ICFTD disks 2 + 3 in DF2 and DF3. Still I get the yellow screen of doom.

I tried putting all the disks in the disk swapper also.

Does anyone have any tips on what I can do to install it properly?

I've really only played it HD-installed. Boot from your virtual HD, insert the disks and run 'HDInstall2' on 'Desert1'.

Ok, I just checked, and the disk images on the site indeed seem to be faulty. I replaced them with new ones which are definitely working and can easily be installed to floppy disks by booting the 'Master Disk'.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't think to set up a hard disk.

Once I'd finally figured out how to do that, I put the disk in as you asked. I only have a file called hd_install (not #2), which is only visible if I choose to show all files. If I click on this I get a 'file not executable' message.

Do you think I could open a shell window and run it? Thing is, it's been so long I don't remember how. :embarassed:

Edit: I didn't see your second reply, so I'll try downloading it again instead. Thanks for your help.

Thanks, Mr Creosote - the new files are working a lot better. I'm still trying to make the disks at the moment as it freezes at a random point in the process. I'm sure it'll work eventually. Thanks for your assistance.

I can check it again when I get home tonight, but that won't be before 7PM. If you can get it to work until then, all the better.

I think the problem may be at my end this time, but it is annoying when there's an error near the end and you have to start again. I'll keep trying today and see where I get. :)

Absolutely no problems creating the disks with an emulator here. Make sure you set 'drive speed' to exactly 100%, as everything else is bound to make trouble.

Thanks for your advice again, but somebody somewhere seems to have it in for me. It still wouldn't work, so I got a little frusrated and found another copy. This one was three disks, and had already been 'unpacked'. I'm going to experiment with that one tomorrow evening. I already tried installing it on my HD (clicking HDinstall2) and it copies all the info to DH0. For some reason there was no icon to run (except another HDinstall2).
