I started to play Hidden Agenda again recently. Today I got the following event/encounter in foreign policies:

"Recently, the US attacked Diwaniya, a nation in the Middle East accused of harboring terrorists. Now we are asked to vote on a General Assembly resolution condemning the attack."

That game was made in 1988. Seems there haven't been so many changes since then... :bemused:

Well, a few things have changed, like for example the bipolar world situation the game presents. Then again, that could easily be substituted.

Keeping in mind that on a historical scale, 1988 wasn't long ago at all, it's not really surprising that not much has changed, though, is it?

It's more that the overall-sitution (bipolar-world) changed dramatically, but the actions and "reasons" are the same (US attack country in Middle East, because of terror).

This event is just surprisingly timeless... ;)

Absolutely! Also, the general problems presented in the game are still as true as then. Third-world countries still suffer from the same bullying tactics, it's still nearly impossible to find a compromise between economical growth and social welfare and so on.

Yeah, I play the multi-polar version of Balance of Power and the world just ends up getting nuked every time. :(
