The PC version I've been looking for for years already. Can't get it to work, though. It complains about the file "OEKO.OVL" missing, although it's right in the directory. Could anyone try?

Same warning here. Must be looking for it in a different dir-or it's corrupt.
Also, winrar complained about the LPT file when unpacking.

edit: can we reverse-engineer this to see where it looks for the file?

Oh, well... I guess it's back to searching for a working version then. Reverse engineering seems a little over the top to me (and we'd need a very competent person for that...). Thanks for trying everyone.

Actually, we wouldn't need that much experience. It's a simple matter of looking through the assembly code for a reference to oeko.ovl. The reversing process itself is a matter of using the proper software. The entire procedure would take about half an hour. Sure beats another few years looking...

Currently testing to see if I've put every file where it belongs, then I'll make a new rar.

Woo-hoo! Triple post!

This should do it. Save/load should still be tested, but apart from that, the game seems to work. Too bad it's in German-oh well. I left out the .lpt-file since I couldn't unpack it, and I couldn't find the exact location of score.dat. That doesn't seem to be a big problem, though-game works and high score list displays.

Oh, this game has full female nudity! Try playing an "urwaldvolk" and you'll see what I mean... ;)

Yessssss, that's it! Great, lots of thanks! So what did you do - just moved those files into the data subdirectory? Oh, and don't worry about the LPT1 file, it's created automatically again upon running the game, and it's only needed to print out the results, not for playing. That quest had been going on for more than 10 years... :D

I looked at the assembly code of oeko.exe and oeko.ovr until I found a reference to every single file's location. Apparently, there was supposed to be a "data" subdir, and almost all files were referenced as //rDATA/FILENAME. I've done this before, when I had a similar problem. Relatively easy, which is good, since I don't know the first thing about assembly code :)
The only one I really couldn't find was score.dat.

EDIT: The reference to SCORE.DAT may be in one of the three data files, which I couldn't decompile successfully.

Any more of these rars with problems? I like puzzles like these...

Nope, nothing else currently. I could just make a mess of perfectly fine games intentionally to give you something to do, of course :P

Uhmmm... well... I think I can find more useful things to do ;) Anyways, just ask if you've got any more problematic rars like that. Happy to help.
