Member Prof Gumby Posts: 607 | Don't know if there's anything you can do about this, but when viewing the site with the new Firefox Beta, it seems to add blank lines everywhere. Internet Explorer does not do this so it must be a browser issue, just checking if there's anything you could do about it. (Small) screenshot attached. ----- "One Very Important Thought" |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11098 | Oh well... I guess the decision to write backwards compatible pseudo-HTML instead of forward compatible real HTML comes back to haunt me I don't have the Firefox Beta installed, but I tried to do a fix which does solve the issue in KHTML based browsers at least. Could you check? Edited by Mr Creosote at 19:13 on September, 10th 2005 ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

There's the usual bugfixes and newly introduced bugs, and the claim that the browser should be faster now. I've noticed next to nothing of these things, though. Besides that, all I can see is how the menus have changed to fit in better with the rest of Windows, and the layout of a few dialogs has changed. I wonder what their reason is for making such a 'leap' in version numbers, probably something I'm missing. ----- "One Very Important Thought" |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11098 | Hmm... what I've read about quite a few times now is better caching for the back and forward buttons. That would indeed be quite nice if you ask me. Noticable difference? ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Retired Gumby Posts: 740 | Heh, you guys are only catching this now? You should have been paying more attention to mozilla than firefox. The newer versions of firefox are based on the 1.8x GRE, which has been available in mozilla for quite a while. That spacing bug has been there since the first 1.8 GREs, and the back button caching thing has been around for several updates now. I'm currently using a v0.9 of k-meleon that's built on GRE 1.8b4 (one of the last ones before they froze it and changed to 1.9x). ----- At the end of the day, you're left with a bent fork & a pissed off rhino. |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11098 | Yes, this is soooooo old... yet you didn't post about it. Just for the record: There are people who prefer official releases over betas. Unbelievable, isn't it? ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Retired Gumby Posts: 740 | 1a) I figured it was a temporary bug that would be ironed out in a later release. 1b) I didn't feel like hearing some speech about not wanting to change the whole site because of one browser. 2) Umm... The very title of this thread is "firefox 1.5 BETA". The very first sentence in this thread was "Don't know if there's anything you can do about this, but when viewing the site with the new Firefox Beta,". Your own first post in this thread was about firefox beta: "I don't have the Firefox Beta installed,". The only difference is that the beta I'm talking about was mozilla instead of firefox, and came out a lot earlier, so don't go giving me some crap about people not using betas. If this thread was about an official release of firefox, it might be a different story. It's not though, it's about a BETA release. ----- At the end of the day, you're left with a bent fork & a pissed off rhino. |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11098 | The point is it's not a browser bug, but a different interpretation of incorrect code Anyway, let's just say it's not very polite to jump at someone else's thread and say "ooooooold news" if there isn't a thread about it already. Everything which hasn't been posted previously is 'new news'. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |
