Review by Underdogs:
Tamarin is a fun and unique freeware puzzle game that plays like a variation of Rubik’s famous tile puzzles. The game is simple to learn, but hard to master. You basically move a 2x2 magnifying lens around the board, and click to rotate the 4 color balls underneath. Once four balls of the same color touch each other (forming a 2x2 square), they disappear from the board along with any other balls of the same color. New balls appear at random, and like Tetris they appear faster and faster as your score increases. Your goal, naturally, is to keep eliminating balls to stay alive as long as possible. The game is over when the board is completely filled with balls.

The already fun gameplay of Tamarin is spiced up with special, non-color balls that will start to appear at higher levels. These include balls with the word “color” on them that will gradually change the color from one to the next (and so forcing you to rotate them at the right moment); balls marked “all” will let you destroy all the balls adjacent to the 2x2 group regardless of color, and more. The game is a lot of fun, and I found myself playing it frequently during coffee breaks. If you enjoy reflex-oriented puzzlers, Tamarin is a great game that will keep you coming back for more in hopes of breaking your last high score. Highly recommended.
