Comic Kicker - Euro 2000
Comic Kicker is not meant to be a 'realistic' football game by any means. Rather, it takes a more arcade-oriented/fantasy action approach similar to Technos' classic Kunio-kun No Nekketsu Soccer League on the Nintendo console. All players from the 16 countries who participated in Euro 2000 are drawn and animated in funny cartoon style, and dressed in their national costumes - for instance, the Danes wear horned Viking hats, while the English wear bowler hats. An easy-to-use power meter lets you put more power into each kick, and you can collect randomly placed power-ups to give your team an advantage. The little bottles, for example, will give your player a speed boost). As in the actual tournament, your team must qualify for the finals by collecting points in the group stage. Although the controls are already very intuitive, Comic Kicker includes a very nice in-game tutorial that walks you through the basics.
The free trial version is identical to the full game, except it will expire after 3 uses. The game is fun, addictive, and funny - well worth the $10.00 registration price tag for the full version. Two thumbs up, way up!
