Review by Underdogs:
Second-place winner in the 10th Interactive Fiction Competition, Blue Chairs is by far my most favorite game in the competition. Similar to Losing Your Grip or Little Blue Men in mood and surreal setting, Blue Chairs is a better game than both. The story - which I cannot say too much about lest I reveal some spoilers - is one of the best I have seen in a computer game, and the writing is so good that you will be left feeling "wow" long after the game ended. (The last time I felt this way was after playing Adam Cadre's superb Photopia). Some puzzles are admittedly obscure, but the quality of writing and surprises revealed through the game are both so high that this becomes only a minor nuisance. Fans of the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in particular will find much to like here. I can't recommend this wonderful game enough. If every IF competition turns up only one game of this caliber, that will be enough reason to continue it forever. Highly recommended.
