3059
The best thing about 3059 is that it offers complete freedom: you can roam virtually endlessly in any direction at any time, and there is alway quests to do, things to see, aliens and hostile humans to fight, and items to acquire. The game has an original and detailed skill system, and good AI behind all the enemies you fight. Two of the most fun things to do in the game is to create items from parts, and fight "boss" aliens that will always drop cool items. Day/night cycles, teleporters that let you move quickly between towns, and fun item descriptions are some of the cool features of this fun sci-fi Roguelike. It's not as good as GearHead (mostly due to the most confusing combat system and, in my opinion, less interesting quests. Besides, giant robots are by nature cooler ;)), but it comes quite close. Highly recommended.
