Brutal Sports Football

brutal01.png
Millenium 1994
Genre: Sport, Action
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC, Amiga (OCS/ECS), Amiga (CD32)

In contrary to the potential expectations considering the name, Brutal Sports Football does not have very much in common with soccer or football (or even sports). Some elements have been adopted, though. Two teams try to put a ball into the enemy's goal while guarding their own.

Daughter of Serpents

Millenium 1992
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 2/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Egypt in 1920. A mysterious artifact found on the black market. Inside: a scroll containing a mysterious prophecy. The perfect prerequisites for the followup of the excellent Hound of Shadow? Yes. A worthy followup? No.

Global Effect

Millenium 1992
Genre: Strategy
Rating: 5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

How can a planet survive or even just coexist with humankind? Stepping into the shoes of Sim Earth and Balance of the Planet, Global Effect reuses the gameplay of Sim City to for another entry into this not too crowded genre of games. A thematic rarity warrants closer inspection, doesn't it?

James Pond II: Codename Robocod

pond2_48.png
Millenium 1991
Genre: Action
Rating: 5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

Compared to the first part, James Pond 2 may appear to be a step backwards. In many ways, it's a much more conventional game. Where the predecessor set itself apart from the usual Jump 'n' Run genre by having a fish as a protagonist, the challenge to the player was indeed a little bit different. This game has James put on a special armour which enables him to get out of the water so that he's now been turned into yet another common genre character.

Silverload

Millenium Interactive / Psygnosis 1995
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 0/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

In the late 19th century, strange things are happening in the remote western town of Silverload. One of two scientists who are sent there to retrieve some objects is attacked by the Werewolf inhabitants in the prologue already and the other one goes into hiding. Another family which was just passing through isn't spared, either. This time, the evil monsters take a nine-year old boy with them. The player takes over the role of a gunslinger who happens to pass by the family's camp. Hearing their story, he decides to enter the cursed town and retrieve the child.

Warlock: The Avenger

Millenium 1991
Genre: Action
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

Druid in its third round. War rages again in Belorn - how original. Lone magician (this time not called 'druid', but 'warlock') battles his way through and ends the threat.

After the relatively fresh and original Enlightenment, Warlock is a complete turn towards the original again. No more complicated spell management and also no non-linear levels anymore. In fact, the best description is this: New levels for the original Druid.

Wild Cup Soccer

Teque / Millenium 1994
Genre: Sport, Action
Rating: 2/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

To us Europeans, American Football is just a big slaughter anyway. So when we play Brutal Sports Football, we don't even notice much of a difference to what's offered in the NFL. Who cares if a few weapons have been added? Don't those suits make living weapons out of the players anyway (dramatic pause...)?
