Ocean 1992
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 2.5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

[Wandrell] Maybe some of you remember a film that around twenty years ago tried to give a twist to Peter Pan's story. Well, it did share name with this game, and it's not by chance, as here we have the adaptation of Spielberg's Hook.

Hot Wheels

Mattel / Epyx 1985
Genre: Simulation
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: C64

Back in the 80s, 'action toys' were the market. The leading company was Mattel with their action figures ('Barbie for boys'). And there were these toy cars. Completely unlike the car models which existed before and served only 'museum values', these little metal (or plastic if it had to be cheap) vehicles were actually designed for children playing with them! I, for example, held 'ramming contests': causing two cars to crash frontally and the one which falls upside down loses.

Hugo på Nye Eventyr

ITE / Interactive Television Entertainment 1994
Genre: Action
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Do you recognize him? Why, it's Hugo the TV Troll from the 90's television game show! Now watch him jump off your TV screen and get inside your computer! Synopsis so far: your wife and kids have been kidnapped by the evil sorceress Scylla (Hexana in german version) and guess what, now you have to rescue them. Only it will cost you a risky journey where you will have to use your utmost discretion, reaction, but thankfully little brain, cause thinking is not Hugo's best faculty.

Hugo's House of Horrors

Gray Design Associates 1990
Genre: Adventure, Action
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Hugo's House of Horrors is the first of three text-controlled adventure game created by Gray Design Associates. The controls are similar to the Sierra titles of the same style. You use arrow keys for character movement and you type in commands to complete tasks. The parser used for input is very limited, but this isn’t a problem since most parsers of the time suffered this same problem.

Human Killing Machine

Tiertex / U.S. Gold 1988
Genre: Action
Rating: 0/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

Street Fighter came out, and although it was not nearly as influential as its sequel and honestly speaking wasn't even all that great to begin with, it did have its imitations. Such as Human Killing Machine. The game with one of the most ridiculous titles ever.

Hunger Daemon

Sean M. Shore 2014
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Freeware
System: Interpreter

Hunger Daemon is a game about the search of a long-time veterinarian student for a heart, a girl and something to eat… not necessarily in this order. His journey is linked to his uncle, who wants to take over the world by summoning an elder being into his body. Of course this cannot be for real, so the only serious question he has to ask himself is: When are you going to get your hands on some food?

Hunter Hunted

Sierra On-Line 1996
Genre: Action
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

3D is just so much more immersive! With the release of Doom, the gaming world changed. Side scrollers, which had been the big thing before, which even had had whole computer systems designed just for them, suddenly looked so old-fashioned and nobody needed all those layered graphics and hardware accellerated sprites anymore. When even Mario went 3D, all seemed lost. All? No, a small group of idealists still resisted. Just surprising that, of all game producers, Sierra – the epitome of square – was part of this rebel fraction standing against the mainstream. Who would have thought?

Hurra Deutschland

Promotial Software / Rainbow Arts / Softgold 1994
Genre: Strategy, Adventure
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Sensational news right before the 1994 German election: A new supercomputer has analysed statistical material and its result is that Paul is the perfect candidate for the chair of the Chancellor! He's not only the best man suited for the job concerning his abilities, but also exactly the kind of person the people want - a man without any firm opinions. Dr Becher from the institute housing the computer is supporting Paul's candidacy, but what are his real interests?

Ice Software / Tengen / Domark 1990
Genre: Action
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Atari ST

I never expected the job of a postman to be so exciting! A cool motor boat speeding down rivers and over the sea to deliver important packages (like for example the Britsh crown jewels) to their recipients. Avoiding terrorist ships, mines and floating logs, or blasting them if they are really in the way (I'm waiting for the day DHL starts doing that). All just to ensure speedy delivery (I'm waiting for the day DHL considers taking a go at that, too).

I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream

The Dreamers Guild / Cyberdreams 1995
Genre: Adventure
Rating: 5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

In a distant future, humanity has finally done it: it has finally destroyed itself. 'Only' indirectly, though, as it was the 'Allied Mastercomputer', the American defense system, which developed a consciousness, called itself 'AM' (as in 'I think therefore I AM') and wiped out the human race. Since computers (especially military ones) are sadists, it kept five humans alive to torture them for all eternity.
