Genre: Action
Rating: 3/6
Licence: Commercial

Sega 1993
Genre: Action
Rating: 1/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Mega Drive

Raging obesity is not such a huge issue in Japan compared to countries like the USA or Russia (though I hear McDonald's is gaining foothold). Ironically enough, they nevertheless have a strange obsession with Sumo Wrestling over there – two incredibly fat guys basically turning into a big mass of jelly.

Barbarian: The Ultimate Warrior

Palace Software 1987
Genre: Action
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: ZX Spectrum, C64

In those dark ancient times all business was settled with brute force, magic and steel. In our story, however, steel must ultimately prevail. Drax the evil sorcerer threatens to cast a terrible curse upon the people of Jewelled City unless they trade Princess Mariana for their well-being. Without further ado they complied. "Well, that was boring!" - Drax thought. And so he came up with a new bargain for his sordid amusement: the one who defeats a number of his best warriors shall have the Princess back. Many brave souls have perished in vain and, like in all such tales, when all hope seemed lost this champion came...

Barry McGuigan World Championship Boxing

Sportsware Productions 1985
Genre: Sport, Action
Rating: 5/6
Licence: Commercial
System: C64

There are some things I've always enjoyed. Staying up until late in the evening on my C64 (or proudly-owned P IV more recently ), reading, writing (as you can see here). Oh yeah, and watching box matches. I never practiced box professionaly, although I did have some recalcitrating classmates who realized that you *can* learn something if you watch the TV. Boxing is just one example, if you know what I mean

Batman Forever

Acclaim 1996
Genre: Action
Rating: 2/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

Gotham City. The decadent abode of violence, murderous crimes, mad supervillains and never-ending darkness and gloom. Ever occured to you that even the very name suggests a certain gothic connotation? Once again our DC hero in black cape and mask must save the day and this time his target is The Riddler along with his disfigured accomplice Two-Face, formerly a good friend of Bruce Wayne aka Batman, but now a sick nutjob with multiple personality disorder. Their henchmen are a good old bunch of cold-hearted goons, thugs and various trick-or-treaters gone loony. Well, Batman, that sounds like right up your alley!

Batman Returns

Konami 1993
Genre: Action
Rating: 2/6
Licence: Commercial
System: SNES

A common day in Gotham City: Batman puts on his chicle coat, and with his Batmobile he drives to the place of action. Through the slits of his ridiculous mask, he sees the unjustness. Good citizens are being hindered to do their Christmas shopping. A gang of clowns prevents a fluent and free enterprise and causes a setting that reminds of an oriental bazaar.

Black Crypt

Raven Software / Electronic Arts 1992
Genre: RPG
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

[Mr Creosote] Black Crypt is the first game made by Raven Software who later got relatively well-known for their more action oriented (but also first person/3D) games. Their first one is a fairly straight RPG in the tradition of Dungeon Master, though.

Blade Warrior

Image Works 1991
Genre: Action
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: Amiga

Evil guy (answering to the delightful name of Murk) threatens the world, big guy with a large sword sees it as his duty to stop the madman… you know the drill. Nevertheless, Blade Warrior may not be quite what you expect at first glance. Although the first glance makes it look quite interesting already, doesn't it?

Blood 2

Silverfox 2003
Genre: Action
Rating: 4/6
Licence: Commercial
System: C64

Weeeh :)

Some of you older guys may remember the...ahem, good old days of the highschool. Parties&stuff. Nostalgic smile already? Oh, come on, you can't tell me you never, but *never* had a C64 at a party. Nah, I still don't believe you. Truth is, C64s are pretty exotic these days... my CBM gets more attention than me at my parties - though the bastard doesn't get half as many kisses .

Microprose 1993
Genre: Adventure, RPG
Rating: 2/6
Licence: Commercial
System: PC

The time has come. The night of all nights has arrived, where I will dive into darkness. Evil awakens and a nightmare comes true: Dracula rules our city of New York and the lord of darkness is also the head of the local corporation for cyber-genetics, cyber-space, cyber-surgery, cyber-technology, cyber-weapons and cyber-surveillance. Appropriately, it has been a very long time since the city has seen any light; we are in an apparently endless night.
