Wouldn't have thought this game was known outside of Germany...!

That's a reason for them not minding what I claim to have done, sure. It's hardly a reason for me not to say it in the first place, is it? Well, anyway, entertaining little game!

I am glad you had a chance to play my game. I figure the Glexx fleet has orders to prevent your mission and there is no bargaining with them.

Nice, it seems your game focuses on the space exploration part instead of getting lost in meaningless vignettes as the book you mention. I was a but surprised, though, when after helping the Glexx colony, I met one of their warships, and I was not even given the option to mention this noble act...?

Hello,

I am a man of a certain age who grew up with 8 bit computers and gamebooks in the 80s - truly the good old days apart from the double digit inflation and constant threat nuclear war.

I maintain a web site: sheep.horse that contains my blog and various projects. Of particular interest to readers of this forum might be a game I released a few months ago.

Voyage of the Marigold is a short(ish) choice-based adventure game heavily influenced by Fighting Fantasy books, especially Starship Traveller. I think people here might enjoy the retro scifi vibe.

Hello, New member, Old guy...
I started playing pc games back in the misty days of the 80's.
I found this site looking for a replacement map to my old Centurion game.
Happy to be here.

Yeah, the dark future we never dreamed of, but always feared, is real.

It's funny how many people say that. Yet nobody wants to leave those large, corporately controlled "networks".

You still playing any of the golden oldies?

Well, I feel I'm covering that pretty well.

I mean it's only been 17 years so not much ;-)

I found out that there is a new fork of dosbox called dosbox-staging and looking into it's updates pushed me into nostalgia mode. Now I'm gonna run some real old games in cga mode with scanlines just to see what I used to love.

Shoo the games environment and the internet has changed since those days. I kinda miss the old, smaller communities. And people's different websites. Man there were some good ones.

You still playing any of the golden oldies?

Well, of course I remember that! I also remember it left me frustrated, because it ended as another thing with good intentions to integrate people, to do something together, to get into conversation about games which… didn't work out.

Similarly, I do remember that article. Turned true, didn't it? There isn't anything left of that.

What have you been up to since those days?

Yo! Also been rummaging through the ol' abandonware sites and look who's still around. Hope you're still good Mr C. You remember doing this? https://reviewroundup.wordpress.com/about/

Well done on keeping this site alive for so long!

Funny, I actually randomly stumbled onto here by finding your old article "Abandonware is dead" from 2004 :D what must you think now hah
