Member Prof Gumby Posts: 336 | Hello Again! You lot seem like a good bunch, except I'm beginning to feel a little old.... Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. As far as giving away Atari games goes Tuss... how could you??? Learning classical is just like learning a foriegn language, you can take it as far as you want i.e. if all you want to do is ask for directions and buy a croissant when taking a weekend break in France, thats quite easy and still very rewarding, if on the other hand you want to speak fluently with the locals you need to put the time and effort in. The thing is though you _have_ to be able to read music, forget the tab, thats the hardest part but when you have the basics of reading you wont look back. If you really want to learn I can point you in the direction of some good books, composers etc but this is getting a bit off-topic ![]() Oh and I dont know who the 'airplane fellow' is but dont worry, you'll probably find i'll be here for a while now, maybe not every day but I wont be dissapearing. |

Tuss Sorry I never new that ![]() Can you sight read for the guitar? If so the transition to classical will not be too difficult. Guitarists are notoriously bad sight-readers of music, especially in the higher positions, probably because the notation of the instrument is not linear. That was the biggest problem I found when starting.
