Member Baby Gumby Posts: 2 | ID 424 Wizardry V is cracked, see note around 0x6A0 in the img. But also note that Wizardry V (and IV) do not use on-disk copy protection, so can run from uncracked img files (at the expense of having the original red booklet lookups). And proper size for 3.5 inch Wizardry boot disks will be 640K rather than 720K (non-standard, but analogous to 320K vs. 360K for 5.25 inch), which at least will run fine on pce. Another issue is that the Wizardry boot disks have timestamps in the data, apparently unique per copy (my 3.5 Wiz 5 is "10/17/9100000038"), so simple hash checks are not useful for verification. Also, the big advantage of using the 3.5 version of Wizardry V is that it fits on one disk. |

Member Prof Gumby Posts: 486 | Thanks very much. I fixed (restored) cracked image as original default. Wizardy IV and V for 3.5" media type don't have disk copy protected sector. 5.25" media type of Wizardry I ~ V have disk copy protection. 3.5" media type of Wizardry I ~ III have disk copy protection. ----- Edited by core at 14:31 on February 28th, 2022 |
