Review by Underdogs:
One of the best platformers Amiga, the PC version of Team 17's classic Superfrog is a faithful reproduction of the original (minus the excellent Amiga soundtrack). The game is a good example of a flawless execution of a mundane concept. The object of the game, like most other games of its ilk, is to collect the required amount of coins and get to the exit in each level. Team 17 implements this very cliche premise so well that Superfrog stands out among platformers. You can kill enemies by jumping on them or by throwing a ball (which you have to find) at them. Some enemies cannot be killed, so you will just have to avoid them. There are 6 different levels, each one varies nicely from one another. The levels include Forest, Haunted House, Ice World, Egyption, Carnival, and Space. There is also a bonus shooting level that's a lot of fun to play (and replay). At the end of each level, you can play a fun slot machine-style sequence, in which you can win a extra lives, bonus points, or a password. That's right: you have to *earn* a "save slot" in this game by winning the password this sequence. After your wrists are tired from all that jumping and bouncing, you might have to restart the level all over again if you fail to win the password. That's my only big complaint about the game, but fortunately the passwords are usually not that difficult to get.
As one can expect from Team 17, the graphics in the game are excellent, with various animation effects (bordering on the cutesy side). With huge levels (including even secret ones you'll enjoy finding), great controls and playability, and an overall very polished design, Superfrog is simply a must-have for all fans of platform games. Highly recommended!
