Review by Underdogs:
Hunting Season is an amusing shooting gallery game where the idea is to kill the maximum number of elks before they destroy your tower. Luckily there is no shortage of electronic elks, so environmentalists need not be concerned ;) You have 40 'days' (or levels if you like) to kill as many elks as you can. As you gleefully terminate elks, you will accumulate money which can be used to purchase more ammunition and even better weaponry. Your arsenal will soon include "special" items such as elk whistle, crazy bombs, and elk disguise (the use of which is quite amusing). It's a gory game, as you will see the unfortunate elks burst into gory masses, but the game's cartoony looks won't make anyone squeamish. The graphics, animation and sound effects are excellent, and the humor is spot-on -- you will even battle elk "bosses" at the end of each level. There are many levels, surprises, and even cheat codes if you want to use them. All in all, one of the better freeware shooting games I've ever seen, and a nice change from dozens of commercial "digitized picture" hunting games that flood the market nowadays.
