Golden Logres
The pinball action takes place over three tables, each with its own theme and tasks to complete. As far as pinball games go, Golden Logres has to be one of the more unusual takes on the genre in its mission-based gameplay. These missions are given via very neat-looking cutscenes during the game, with appearances of familiar characters from the legend King Arthur.
In contrast to the 2D tables of previous Solid State games except Angel Egg, the tables themselves take only one third of the screen and are seen from a slanted, 2.5D perspective. One gripe I have is that much of the screen is now covered with instructions, score, and other text, which seem a bit obtrusive. The three tables are linked in a sense that you can skillfully build a lot of insurance on the base table and carry it over to the linked tables, which are increasingly more difficult to complete.
All in all, Golden Logres is a fun and innovative pinball game that breaths new life into the genre. The tables are complex, and the learning curve is somewhat steep in a sense that you need to memorize what you have to do to accomplish the current mission. After a while, though, the game will slowly grow on you just like all the previous games from LittleWing. A must-have for pinball lovers, without a doubt.
