Review by Underdogs:
The Mind's Eye is an excellent freeware adventure game that is reminiscent of Amnesia and Sanitarium. The plot: "...your name is Noah, at least that's what you are told. You awaken in a dank padded cell with no memories of your past and no idea why you are in a sanitarium. Your only desire is to reclaim your memories and find out who you really are, but some things may be better left hidden."

In true amnesiac-protagonist fashion, you start the game not knowing anything about yourself, but slowly learn more about your past and madness as time passes. Most puzzles are easy; a few puzzles are difficult only because you need to click on the right action icon before time runs out, and you cannot right-click to cycle through actions to speed up the process. I also find the font (both typeface and color) to be very hard to read - had to strain my eyes to read anything on the screen. On the upside, the interesting plot kept me glued to the screen, the "think" icon (similar to "THINK" command in Mindshadow) is a nice plot device that pushes the plot along, and the "madness" portions are fun and interesting. This is when your character lapses into madness, the screen flashes red, and everything morphs into more sinister versions (including inventory items). In this mode, you cannot "think" and have only limited controls over your faculties. These highlights more than make up for the game's shortcomings, and make The Mind's Eye one of the best AGS games in 2005. Thumbs up!
