Agreed, but I don't think we need a further description for Vox Pops besides "General Discussion". Everyone should be able to understand that without examples. |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11142 | Well - I didn't have any problem with the person who posted a request for the copy protection codes for Alone in the Dark, even though he originally placed it in the wrong sub-forum. He wrote in a nice and polite way, and that's enough for me to get my positive attention - not little confusion about what should be posted where (just an example: everything in reference to a site could be posted in Site Issues - that would include questions about games covered there; that would be just as logical as the current way). ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Prof Gumby Posts: 488 | Well, if someone is so stupid he can't guess he should write his game note/question/help in Software Galore, I don't think we really want him to post at all... But then, it's my opinion. ----- I am on a hot streak... Litterally. |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11142 | And how would a new user know where to start his thread discussing a game then? I think we should visibly distinguish between the 'general description' and examples: "Games, applications (requests, help, discussion)" or "Topics related to the member sites (technical problems, suggestions)". ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11142 | In reference to what we decided when we first split up the forum, we should specifically add the 'software discussion' part to to Software Galore. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Retired Gumby Posts: 964 | Well, time for some suggestions: - Vox Pops: "General discussion/talk" - Software Galore: "Games, applications, requests, help" - Site Issues: "Topics related to the member sites" That's far from perfect, but I think it's enough to make a start. Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11142 | "Vox Pops" is a short form (commonly used in English) of "vox populi" (the voice of the people). The term is usually used in the media for snapshots of opinions of random people ( "the man on the street" ) on subjects they don't necessarily have any background on. It is meant to capture the 'public view'. ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Prof Gumby Posts: 488 | Well, I have no idea what "Vox Pops" really mean, but for me it's obvious that it is intended as a "General" forum... ----- I am on a hot streak... Litterally. |

Admin Reborn Gumby Posts: 11142 | I don't remember these descriptions helping very much to avoid 'misplaced' posts in the old forum, but they also can't hurt... ----- Now you see the violence inherent in the system! |

Member Retired Gumby Posts: 964 | Actually I never noticed it before, but I think short descriptions of the forum's sections could be useful for new users. Thus, it would be easier for new users to find the right section when posting a new topic. Edited by Tapuak at 20:05 on March, 12th 2003 |
