At long last somebody has stept up to revamp these two good old classics.

Both versions will 'soon' (mid 2003) be released as with minor modification (mostly bugfixes) and updated so they will work well under all versions of windows.

This new version will be know as the ancient version and later an enhanced version of both programs will be released.

Please look here for more information:
Killer Bee Software

And please spread the word ...

Perfect General is worth 'saving' (even though it runs on all halfway decent operating systems anyway), but Empire Deluxe? What for? :P

Well he is trying to get the program up and running again. Then he will start on a new version that is will probably be more portable, I think.

But if it will include Amiga, I don't know.

Excuse my ignorance, but isn't the program 'running' already? I mean, I can just enter "empire" and it starts.....

Let me clarify :)

When he bought the rights to the game there were parts of the source code missing. Some code from Whith Wolf was missing also some pictures were not found.

Hench the game was not running when he recieved the source code. He now has a prototype running and is completing an alpha build.

BTW, he is adding a lot of new features that are intresting to say the least.

Hope you are not so ignorant anymore :P

Neat. It sounds like a few of these fan groups are trying to get their hands on the source code for older games, which I think is a great deal of hard work, but if they get it, it's all worth it.

Like what for example? Yes, I'm too lazy to study the whole website ;)

(The Perfect General just made it to the top of my list of games to be added to TGOD :D)

Tuss: Just to make sure you didn't misunderstand me, he (Mark) is a fan of ED but he bought the copyrights not as a fan but as a company. He is going to release a new commersial versions of these products. :)

A lot of cheating bugs are going to be removed. Changable graphichs and sounds.

A lot of multiplayer options, IP connection so players can play against each other without messy connection support.

A city trigger: when a city is set to no production you can set a trigger level (ie 100%) and when it reaches the level, the city will popup its production dialog (my idea :) )

Oh yes, I understand that, it is just nice that the companies are letting their code get bought (Wonder how much? ;)) than just letting it sit around guarding it fiercly for no particular reason.
