I think that is an good theorie.

PS I tried to fix my qote with the edit function but
everytime I tried it, it said something like "only admin and poster of the message can edit"
And I was loged in and loged in again with same result.

That#s very strange. I don't have a 'normal member account' to test it, but seeing that many other common members have used this function for years, and also checking with the code which looks absolutely intact, it's hardly possible there's any bug there. Could it probably be a problem of capitalization in your username?

I tried it again with zork and Zork

"Error: Apart from the poster himself, only Admins and Moderators can edit posts"

It's not a wrong password because I can post new messages with it.

As you can see, no problems with the edit function. I edited the above post both while being logged in and by entering username and password manually.

I believe you but it doesn't work for me.
I tried it again with two different browser without success.
Have you my password as admin? If not I can send you mine and you can try it with my account.

No, all passwords are encrypted in a way that nobody can read them anymore. If you want me to test it, send the password over.

Does this forum uses a function that only someone with the same IP can edit a post?

No, the authentification is purely based on username and password. Nothing else. So what did you do differently this time?

I think so because now I have edited it immediately and now it works.
But everytime I'm online I have a different IP and can't edit old posts.

You may think what you want, but I can assure you that isn't the answer Anyway, looking into the database, I saw that you indeed made the post in question as 'zork' and not as 'Zork'. That's the only point which could cause this. Are you using the preview function when editing?

I wrote my answer before I read your answer so it was no offense from me.

But the strange thing is that I now can edit it with different IP's and with zork an Zork. So the capitalisation was also no reason.
And I'm not too stupid to edit a post
I changed nothing in my doing and now it works.

Well it's not really important. Now I can edit new postings and if I can't again edit sometimes I can post a new reply.
