If I had an extra $250,000...

I remember spending around 20000 BEF per month when I lived in Brussels. At that time, it was around $400. However, three of us shared one appartment. So I guess you could survive with a measly $250,000...

NetDanzr: this 20 a month, did it include your rent?

The vast majority of it was rent. But three of us rented a 2-bedroom appartment and split the cost. That was in '99...

Why would you want to be in the highest tax bracket? It's hideous! I could EASILY live in my own house, if I were single, on $50K a year. Plus I'd probably do some job anyway because it would be quite boring sitting around all day.

Damn, I'm living on NZ$840 per month (?403.40, £252.80, US$393.35), and I thought I had it bad ;)

sterge10: I'm going with you on this one, I want the Dodge Viper! :D

I'm just looking at the 2003 model and drooling over it. Mmmmmm... imagine the status symbol on that car eh?

If I was to spend this amount of money on a car I would definitely not go for a Viper... Back in the days when I was drooling over supercars as a kid - looking inside just to see how far the speedometer would go and such :)- the Lamborghini Countach was the ultimate ride...

I've yet to see a car more 80's than the Countach :) and I still think it rules all other road cars by far... But maybe that's just nostalgia talking...

Ah, the good old days ;)

My favorite car would definatly be a ferrari spider or a T-bird classic (still haven't decided which one I like most)... but if I had $250k to spare I would never spend it all on a car...

The Spider version of what model? :) As you probably know Ferrari has a long history and a Spider is just the name for a convertible Ferrari I think... By the way if I was going for a Ferrari I'd go for their huge 80's monster, the 512TR Testarossa. They don't make cars that look that fast anymore, I hate all that 90's curvy design, which is why I dislike Porsches and Vipers also...

I'm quite sure I'd never spend it on a car, but I've been thinking about it and haven't figured out what I would spend it on then... So I think I would just put it on the bank (being quite paranoid about the stock market) and use it as an extra, or a retirement fund...

[Edit: How about the apostrophes on 80's and 90's? are those wrong also?]

Correct. There are so many more things you could buy with $200K. Like a wife!

Delos: as nice as the 2003 model might be, I was really liking the final run special edition gts.

I did the make your own Viper and with all the extras it comes to about $90,000US which is around $180-190k Aus, so I would have some of that $250,000 to spare :P

The Mole: I dislike Lamborghini's purely because they have those stupid doors. Porsches are overrated and crap I dislike them as well, but however I love Vipers allways have and allways will :D

Nooooo, that's not rich, I spend most of that on rent (approx. ?145.74), food (approx. ?97.17), and the rest on phone bills (High speed internet and toll calls), electricity, and miscellaneous things.

I don't have free living at all!!

I'm struggling to save, and I had to ask my parents for some money, and being the helpful parents that they are they gave me a check which takes one week to clear , so I sit here and wait with bills I can't pay until it clears. :worried:

Oh, and I might add that my house is extremely cheap for the area I live in!

?145.74 is even way less than I'd pay as rent in Hamburg's 'slums'. A normal one-room-kitchen-bathroom flat is ?250 (excluding all extra costs like electicity, water and so on) here and that is approximately what I'm paying.

I'm pretty sure a Dodge Viper doesn't take off... :bemused:

I get your point though :)
